Singer 7470 Sewing Machine

When sewing letters or words like SINGER, is there a way to have the thread running behind the fabric between letters? The example shown at 06:19 minutes looks a bit odd with the thread running diagonally from the S to I and from E to R.

bought a similar one without the foot pedal and was unable to operate it with another pedal of a different type... Its pedal is very special. What should I do? How do I operate it when the pedal is not available in the market?

Hi what's the little dial for at the bottom of the machine? I can't find its function on the manual

If it is at the back or underneath, it might be a switch to lower the feed dogs.

How do you get the needleplate back on the Singer Confidence 7469? It will not go back on correctly to line up with the feed dogs and needle hole

×we can't get it to sew. Without the foot pedal. Very frustrated that this video didn't do a well instructed walk through on how to operate this machine. I had bought several singers for my daughter and they seem not to work after a brief time

I have no confidence in the Singer Confidence 7470. That top thread arrangement keeps snarling up and the top thread keeps breaking. That's why I'm searching YT for pointers. I note in the above video she has the top thread spool on horizontally, but slightly elevated. There are some real issues with the top thread design arrangement, because the top thread has to pass over the handle of the machine, through a metal gizmo, then get threaded into the other tensioners and it seems to get too tight, regardless of what tension I set it at re. the front dial. It's singularly annoying, can not recommend. Went back to my old Janome. I had an ancient Singer treadle machine that was easier to thread up and operate. Wish I'd kept it. This machine, terrible design.
