After you explained the mechanism beneath the bobbin and the cross on the bobbin itself, I checked mine and the bobbin cross was worn so it wasn't catching on the 'blade' that pops up when in 'wind' position! I never would've expected it to be the bobbin....kept thinking it was the machine! Thanks again!

The first machine you showed is the Athena 2000 first one sold in 1975 the first electronic machine made I purchased it for my mother the first week on sale in Chicago. She sewed on it every day until she passed away in 2005 this machine was never in the shop for any repair in in 30 years. I had it serviced after it sat closed up for 17 years. What a machine. I think anyone would agree My mom was a retired seamstress so she kept it up herself. I now have it and hope I can keep it as well as mom did. Singer did us proud w❤it’s this one

Thanks a bunch! I figured it (halfway) out, I didn't realize it kept winding after the thread broke, and I knew that couldnt be right cause it would only be 1/4 of the way full! It was purely operator error lol I Finally have a full bobbin!! Thanks again!!

Your video is very helpful. I just got an Athena 2000 at a yard sale and can't wind the bobbin. After watching your video, I'm newly encouraged to try again. Other than sitting here, manually winding a bobbin, is there any other way to wind the bobbin if the mechanism is broken? Thanks so much for your time in helping us.

I was having a lot of trouble until I tried a different bobbin. It would get started and then hang up. The bobbin would stop turning. I wouldn’t have realized I should try that if you hadn’t explained the little piece that pops up from underneath the bobbin when the latch is in the winding position. I think my plastic bobbin is old and maybe stripped. So thanks for the detailed explanation of how it works!

Hi Paul, This is the same set up as my Singer Futura 900! It is a great machine if I haven't messed it up, which I just did. It was working great before I went to wind the bobbin and forgot to set it back to straight stitch from zigzag. Now the wheel is jammed and only moves backward. I'm I right that this is a bobbin case issue? I've got my service manual! Thanks so much for showing this machine. There aren't many of these slant needle throats around!

I have Singer Touch-Tronic 2010 when I want to fill a bobbon their are 2 different stitiches I press on that panel as it turns to fill the bobbin the thread breaks off the needle stops going uo & down till its totally filled, is that on just the model I have ? thought this series all worked the same.

It's hard to say why the thread is breaking. Always use good quality thread like Gütermann or Mettler polyester. Old thread can be rotten and break easily.

Hi, I have problem with the bobbin latch that the tension is not there any more, so it would not hold the bobbin in the position. Is this because the latch is broken? not sure...

Thank you for this video! I was calling my Singer Sister my Psycho Sister, nothing in the manual I have for my Futura II model 920, says anything about the thread slot. My problem is now that little blade is not rising up in the bobbin case. I don't know if I need a new bobbin case. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks again, GREAT Video!

If the blade doesn't rise, it most likely means that the bobbinwinder cam is broken. It's located underneath and is tricky to change out. It's spring loaded and has to be adjusted perfectly in order to work. It has to lift to the correct height and the three positions have to be aligned exactly right to allow the thread to slip into position for the bobbin to catch.

@@caitlinhurley3186 hi… it is because the bottom of the part he mentions is broken. Easy fix but in Canada is expensive and impossible to get. I end up buying it and it was never ship. It is the bobbin winder cam singer #381504. Good luck to you. $19.99 plus shipping from the USA. Like I said I paid for it and never got it.
