Thanks, this was helpful. The only thing I found disappointing is that the walking foot included does not allow for much thickness in the fabric as it doesn’t lift up very high. I was working on a project that had two layers of thin Terry towel and one layer of quilting cotton, and the foot would not lift up enough to get the seam of the project under it. I had to top stitch by hand…..

I put on my new walking foot, but the needle is hitting the back plate of the walking foot. I tried adjusting the needle, but that only goes sideways and it seems like the needle is hitting in the back a little bit. Do you know how I can fix that I've changed the needle. I put the walking foot on twice, and it's still hitting the back of the foot. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

The arm of the foot resting on the needle screw loosens the needle and it continuously breaks needles.

I got this style of walking foot with my machine, but it did not have the Singer name in it, and there is not a slot for the gauge to fit through on the back. Further, the arm does not always work but stays in the up position, so using this is no better than using one of the other feet that came with the machine. I have picked up a walking foot that is the other style, has the hole for the gauge, and is a Singer brand, and hope it works as it should.

Yes you can. I literally just did it at the start and end of the seam. Tested out my feet today also the cutter foot. Very happy so far

I saw a video that said to lower the feed dogs & set the stitch length to 0. I see an old question here about the feed dogs & someone said to leave them up. Aww rats, now I don't know & I really want to try out the new walking foot! Yes Google is my friend... who spies on me & gives me differing answers. EDIT-I think I broke it cos I didn't know I'm not meant to backstitch. Oh well it worked well for half an hour.

The walking foot that comes with this machine is useless. The arm sticks a lot. You need to buy the kind that hugs the screw instead of sitting above it. Ruined a quilt with this.

Same. I specially ordered it. The arm just resting on the screw slams it up and sticks. My interim fix is I tied a loop around the arm and the screw if rests on 😂
