If you’re not able to do a full movie reaction, react to “The Family Madrigal” first. It’s the first song in the movie and gives insight in all characters so you’ll understand the other songs. In order songs are The Family Madrigal Waiting on a miracle Surface Pressure We don’t talk about Bruno What else can I do Dos Oruguitas (watch with english subtitles) All of you

I loved your reaction! You grasped very well both the themes and the music. The movie this clip is from deals with very real issues that are seldom explored in media, let alone animation. Hopefully comments won't spoil too much... In terms of other songs, which are all bangers in their own right, I suggest you check out family Madrigal for more context on the story and we don't talk about Bruno for... Well, we don't talk about it, but it's #1 trending in youtube music for a reason. Others songs I would consider spoiler and I recommend you watch the movie before, if it seems like something you might be interested in

That always stands out to me--basically saying they won't make accommodations for her/to save her the trouble because she's strong enough to deal with it. Which is what happens to a lot of us who are "the strong one" of the family

Also if you look at the ship it says Madrigal on the side instead of titanic, as in the Family Madrigal. That little tidbit makes it even clearer.

I really feel like the single line that carries the most weight, “give it to your sister and never wonder if the same pressure would’ve pulled you under“, is sadly largely missed because the visuals get really wacky and colorful and over the top at that point, and there’s so much to look at the most important line gets muffled.
@Ash-jb2eb
@Ash-jb2eb 2 жыл бұрын
That could be the point, her family look at her and they don’t have to think about it, so they give us so much to look at that if you’re not paying attention, you wouldn’t notice what she’s saying.

I actually dont feel like it is missed at all. Anyone who has experienced the need to be strong, to carry the family in some way, who can relate to this song will have felt those words intensely, because they have wondered over and over if anyone has ever considered if others would have had the strength to stand what they do, to keep going, when they themselves have felt like they were going to break but had to suck it up and keep going despite falling apart on the inside. Just hoping someone could see them, someone could allow them to be vulnerable for once
@milo_thatch_incarnate
@milo_thatch_incarnate 2 жыл бұрын
@@navarian4579 I love this perspective! I certainly _hope_ that everyone actually pays attention to that line, both so that those who have experienced it can feel heard, AND so that those who haven't understand! I only said it seems like it's not paid the attention it deserves because I've watched a _bunch_ of reaction videos to this song at this point, and every one of them was just vibin along with the beat and laughing at the donkeys, and kind of missed that line.

She’s super strong because that everyone in their family has magical gifts-except for Mirabel, the girl with glasses. And a lot of the plot of the movie is her kind of realizing that Luisa and the others in the family who have always seemed to have things easy and be accepted are secretly suffering too and feel like their gifts have defined who they are and the expectations people have for them.

6:48 Wow I didn’t realize the symbolism until you said it. Older siblings have to bear the weight of responsibility at home and in this literal case, Luisa was carrying/juggling the Madrigal home. Great reaction. This is probably the 100th time I’ve listened to the song and I still feel all the feels behind the message

What I love about this movie is that's its a movie about dealing with generational trauma in families that we actually see a lot and don't talk about. Every song I feel like hits a nail on the head of what goes on in families like that. Helps that that the songs are fire 🥰

Also mom or dad or the person who is overloaded with work and has to deal with the stress and the anxiety. She has “no breaks”… it has two meanings. She can’t have a break and she neither can’t break herself because she feels “something is gonna hurt us” if she does. People can have this feeling even at work.

After this song I want 2 things for Luisa. 1: That she requests some much needed mental health leave from Encanto and 2: She requests a trade to the MCU wing of Disney to confirm my sneaking suspicion that she's worthy of lifting Mjolnir.

The ship had madrigal on the side, which is their family name. Comparing their family to a ship that won't adjust its course even from a giant iceberg that they know is there because they just expect her to take care of them, and then at the end she's basically showing that she's shouldering all of Encanto (the area in which they live).

This makes me appreciate how my mom tried not to put pressure on me as the oldest sister. She was the oldest of seven kids and I know she hated feeling that pressure herself. She broke down once and told me she hated when people said how strong she was, trying to compliment her, she didn’t want to always have to be the strong one.

The Encanto soundtrack is currently #1 on Billboard and the song We Don't Talk About Bruno is the highest trending on KZbin. If you want to react to it, I suggest you react first to the song The Family Madrigal (the 1st song of the movie) because it introduces all the characters and it will then be easier for you to understand We Don't Talk About Bruno, which is an ensemble song. This is the order of the songs: - The Family Madrigal - Waiting on a Miracle - Surface Pressure - We Don't Talk About Bruno - What Else Can I Do? - Dos Orguitas - All of You - Colombia, Mi Encanto

I was the oldest "parentified" child, but not because my parents put that on me. I've adored my younger brother from the time he was born and never wanted to leave him behind. I also convinced my parents to let me "babysit" him for about an hour and a half each day after school because I wanted him all to myself. We're both upper 30s now and he's still my best friend, my biggest fan and supporter, and I hope he feels I'm the same for him. But I admit, that even having chose that... it's a TON of pressure. I was also a heavy perfectionist as a kid so I understand Isa's pressure too.

Agreed, depends largely on culture. For me, the second son (me) is the "spare". We always go into the military or some other service (firefighter, cop ect) and we always settle disputes for the family. And no matter how perfect we are, we are second class citizens in our own family. Actually got into a number of verbal and physical altercations in my life to keep the rest of my siblings records/reputation spotless.
