Also check out the Kronos Quartet - a string quartet who, besides playing music of 20thC composers, were covering Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze", and jazz pianist Bill Evans' music back in 1986. They didn't present it in such a theatrical way, but back then they were considered to be groundbreaking.

Steve'n'Seagulls "Thundestruck" version isa must see. It has 127M views, tens of thousands of comments I believe, 99% positive. Totally different from the original, but respectfully. Great musicianship with a touch of humor. They use an instrument that I have never before seen used as a musical instrument. If you want to hear more cellos try Apocalyptica. A band with 4 cellos. Apocalyptica ft. Corey Taylor "I'm not Jeesus". (Heavy subject matter, sexual abuse of a child, Corey himself, I'm not Jeesus = I can not forgive.) Apocalyptica ft. Lzzy Hale "Talk to Me", fairly new video.

I have said this before about this video. The audience reaction is possibly not realistic. At that stage , audiences expected wild and different improvisation as a matter of course. You should see their electric cellos. They are pieces of minimalist art! Check out their other "rock" classic covers . Even just for yourself. About time someone really explored what a cello can do. When you think about it , the cello covers about the same frequency range as a guitar.

These guys are brothers from Croatia and they've been doing incredible performances all over the world for years. Selling out huge venues wherever they go. Not only do they do fantastic adaptations but they're funny as hell too! I love Thunderstruck because everyone is dressed in period clothing and at the end the audience looked like they were Godsmacked but the few kids there love it! Now, here is an example of them doing a modern treatment of Bon Jovi;s "Livin' on a Prayer". The performance is great and so is the staging and lighting and complete with carbon fiber cellos! They have a lot of material on KZbin, look 'em up! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKfUeqCpn9WZhtE

Greetings from Germany...oh, oh..i'm not quite OK with that what you've said: " Cello is a classic, beautyful Instrument.. a great idea to take a song, in a completely different genre, from what your instrument expected to play.." Did Stradivari said, 400 years ago, "Classic Instruments should not be abuse for this 'Devil's music'". Actualy classic composer and builder of classic Instruments founded Heavy Metal. For example this crazy dude called Richard Wagner...he doubled the bass in concert Halls, he let people hammer on anvils like beserkers. Or what about my favorite. Franz Liszt, a real wild one, at the Piano. People didnt believed what they hearing, his unexpected breakdowns, his real weird switches. Things they never did in this time. Not to forget...the 'Devil's Violinist' Paganini. The 'Jimi Hendrix' on the strings. See, things are not that different, didn't have to be the oposite. Or the 'good and the evil'. You have to watch things from different views. From any angle. So many misunderstandings would not arise in the first place. Next month is my 50th Birthday. 35 years of my life i'm a Metalhead, in first place. The eighties were the worst years for me. I've always treaded like a violent, drunk, dangerous, antisocial, drug dealing criminal. Just because of my long hair and my 'Iron Maiden' T-shirt. Young and stubborn as i was, i began to fill the role, and also i began to hate other music genres. Well, my parents(r.i.p) didnt raised me that way. Thanks for that, mum & dad.😊 so, i grow up, saw other sides of the story, stopped hating, accepting different people with differents taste and lifestyles. One of my deepest, best and important lesson i've learned for my life. Again, with the luck to have had such great and loving parents. Excuse me, if it sounds like a attack on you. Thats the last thing i want..and i'm sure, smart and kind as you are, you think quite the similar way like i do...it's all about the Power of music, and the way we need music in our life's ...no matter wich genre or style...thats why i don't like to cut music in all this sub genres. Like Prog metal, Nu Metal, Death-Trash-Speed-, Rock, Hardrock, and so on.. thats sucks. All this shit talking like :"It's grunch, the new Metal, better than your winy symphonic metal."...no, fuck you and your commercial Metallica shit". No one is the best singer, the best Band.. accept for you. Uff, damned..i just wanted to say that i love you, please don't mind, you and your reactions. Your smile, your excitment and your passion for music in generell. Its such a lovin joy watching the things you do. And crazy too..i can watch you every day, learn to knowing you..but strange when i think bout it, that othersides, you have no clue who the hell i am, i guess, you will even never see me. And for sure you have no intrest in thinking: "..hey, i'm curious how that guy reacts to my favorite song. I bet he will cry some tears.". But that are things wich going round in my head,..as a watched and lover of reactions of intressting people from all arround the world. Try to look at this from my side. First its difficult, than it gets confuse and finaly you will feel strange and say to yourself.."..damned, thats true and now i understand all this much better." The worst case were, of course, if you just think. "What the hell is this weird german krautrock-guy talking about...?" 🤣😅😊....never mind, my Lovelylady. Stay Safe and have a peaceful week. ..from Köln/Cologne. ...Stefan🌈💚🥰😊✌🤘
