Great reaction. I am a HUGE BLINK. I had mixed feeling about this one too. I think it is the chorus that just didn’t live up to the standards of rest of the song or their typical “banger” hit songs. There was the build up and then the chorus just doesn’t fit for some reason. The song grew on me though, I still love it. Oddly enough, my wife and kids (2 teenage boys) say this is their favorite BP song (they don’t normally care for BP or K-Pop). :).

All four girls wet and killing it! 🖤💗 Now that I have your attention (Cami you definitely have mine), I got to see them twice in New Jersey as they did an encore in some places. August 12th here. You need to see this concert video. Playing with Fire if nothing else. During Forever Young I believe it started to storm. I don't know if the Blinks were more worried for our girls or them us. When the music from Playing with Fire started somehow the energy which was already at peak, surged even more. Otherwise notable Jennie's mic/ear pack had issues during Pretty Savage. She had to leave stage for a moment and with the biggest eff you to the haters who call her dancing lazy, perfectly seamlessly stepped back in with choreo and vocals. Also Jennie almost fell onto the stage because a wet riser that was about 2 stories up wasn't properly secured. She was terrified, but soon laughed it off. UltimateDodo has great vids of August 12th in Jersey. I'd love to watch your reactions. I came to you for BlackPink reactions and I stayed for you. So excited about your new music!

I think your headspace was set with certain critical presumptions when it comes to the chorus. That’s fine. But the fact that you didn’t realize it is an OST for a game and that it wasn’t rushed, but actually delayed, means you have a life and missed many months of discussion and speculation about The Game and OST 😉 Everyone was definitely not quiet about this but again, having a life you may have missed this too. Oh, I agree completely with what you say about Queen Jisoo, and yes, her English (at least for singing) seems to me to have improved so much that sometimes she and Rosé can occasionally sound the same, especially here. The song hits different, yet sounds similar to other BLACKPINK songs, because not produced by the usual producers. This song was produced and written by Ryan Tedder (from OneRepublic) and Lingren, along with Jennie, Rosé, Danny Chung (from the THEBLACKLABEL), Melanie Fontana and Madison Love. Jennie and Rosé worked with Ryan in LA during 2021 to work on their parts. There is an article on Koreaboo talking about how the song that Ryan worked on with Jennie and Rosé (which we can now assume is The Girls) did not make the final cut for Born Pink. Personally, I did not have too many issues with the song, since BLACKPINK music appears like dew drops in the desert. While the lyrics for the chorus seem a bit strange (possibly modified to be appropriate for younger audiences), the chorus is nonetheless catchy. Lisa's rap was excellent. I am really glad that Jennie was credited second in the list of songwriters. (The BLACKPINK members rarely get songwriting credits, so having Jennie and Rosé in the credits is a big deal.) PS: Overkill is great. Thanks.

Ryan Tedder is my cousin. He said they were great to work with and gave them a lot of the credit for the song. He also said there are two other songs they wrote in those sessions which haven't yet come out

The girls actually had pretty equal time in here with Lisa having the most time since she had a whole ass rap verse to herself *cough cough*. Jennie prolly edged out Rose and Jisoo by a bit but the two singers had about equal time. The song is a banger though, you can definitely tell it belonged on Born Pink though, it has the same attitude and vibe as Shut Down, Pink Venom and Typa Girl and appears to have been cut for no reason.

I watched their reaction to this video, and based on that, I don’t think this is a new song. I think this one was sitting in a folder somewhere and wasn’t fully finished or didn’t have a place on an album, and they just pulled it out to use for the BP mobile game. The girls reacted in a way that showed how they had nothing to do with the production of the video or game. Your guess about Jennie sounding younger really fits too.
