Her make-up + ear rings + top are resembling the Jamaican flag colors. It's funny how she is a shy and anxious person usually (especially obvious in older interviews, but you still see the cold sweat), but when she performs she is so outgoing in her body language, accentuating a lot of the lyrics, that it is really hypnotic watching her on stage. This makes her not just a great musician, but also a great performer and entertainer. The entire band is pretty humble and down to earth, which makes them even more likeable.

Tati was channelling her inner Gwen Stefani on the choruses. The song is her sticking a middle finger up at those who don't accept her in the Metal genre. I can only say BOOYAH! to them. 😉 💜🤘

@@sabina1118 She's always been a fan of Gwenn... in one of their videos she shows "one of her treasures" and it's a No Doubt album t-shirt ;) Check the song "The Prophecy" for more Gwenn-ish vibes" (dress and looks, the song is kind of hard)

Tatiana is easy to admire. She's shy and battles chronic depression, but when shes performing she transforms into a mesmerizing goddess. But even then there is a charming humility even as she's being an utter badass. And having been lucky enough too see them in concert, there's a sense of the concert being a shared space not all about them which is beautiful. As a followup, definitely do a concert video. Perennial live at Wacken is one of the best, and definitely watch through her thanking everyone at the festival in the end the smile she ends with is dazzlingly adorable. Who Is Gonna Be The One is a protest song that is mostly growls so if you did it I'd recommend reading the lyrics first, but Tati is having a lot of fun being a sexy primal beast which is really cool, and she shows off how low she can take those growls - yes, she goes lower. Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev (about her mental health struggles) and Sit Stay Roll Over live in Melbourne (an antifascist anthem) are two others that put her low growls on display - the latter has more of her vocal tricks in a single performance than any other. Doing a one-take is kinda easy for her, especially during lockdown. She's not having to keep going for a half hour festival set or over an hour headlining set, while for example 2019s headlining North American tour was 42 shows in 60 days with usually 3-5 shows back to back and I don't think think they got more than a single night off in a row, on the way to 152 shows that year on several continents, and they also made the Macro album in between. About the tone of her grows, I suspect a lot of it comes down to attitude making subtle changes to a performer's technique, multiplied by years of practice. Tatiana has a pronounced tomboy side, though she doesn't emphasize as much in her public persona now but knee-length jeans shorts, sneakers, and a boybeater was kinda her standard look when she was starting out. The contrast is incredibly powerful though. Also Tatiana loves reggae and latin music, so a big part of her enjoyment here is having the chance to express that side of herself.

They are a great and super talented band as a whole, and Tatiana is just a stellar artist. She writes meaningful and thoughtful lyrics, commands the stage when she performs, and of course the stunning range of vocal ability and control. And despite being very shy and suffering depression, she is very sweet and gracious if you get the chance to talk to her. Great and insightful reaction!

A little more detail on the growling: Tatiana's growling is a combination of false cord screaming for the really low sounds and fry screaming for the mids and highs. Both types of screaming use the false folds to produce the distorted sound, but in false cord screaming is done with the vocal cords open and gives a darker, rounder, lower growl. Fry screaming is done with the vocal cords held together (but not phonating) allowing only a narrow stream of air through the false folds and to resonate in the skull. Fry screaming has a higher, brighter timbre and has high harmonic overtones. Both types of growls, when done correctly, do not use the true vocal cords to phonate at all, and thus don't tire out the true singing voice at all.

On your comment "I feel like this is her lyrics", she does write almost all of the lyrics. Eugene, their bassist wrote the song "Dreadful Moments" and helped out with a quarter, to maybe a third of "Pisces" (he is a Pisces as well), and I believe some of their music on their first album "Inhale Don't Breathe" (2013) was from the previous singer. Other than that, I think Tatiana has written all the lyrics (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). As I understand, the guys write the instrumentals, she listens to them for inspiration, then has full control over the vocals which she lays in, then a bit of fine tuning to finally come up with the complete song. Edit: A bit of a correction, there was an EP before "Inhale Don't Breathe" however none of the current members were with the band. With IDB, current members Roman (guitar), Eugene (bass), and Tatiana were with what was a 5 member band. After the rhythm guitarist left, they dropped to a 4 member band and the current drummer Vlad has been with them for Micro(EP) and Macro(LP) released in early and late 2019 respectively.

By the way it's not her cat. The cat belongs to the drummer of a band called Suicide Silence who Jinjer was to do a tour with in the U.S. then Covid. Tati took a fondness to this drummer when she and Eugene were in Las Angeles for 6+ months. She did this along with a Nirvana cover while in LA as she needed an outlet. Then she and Eugen got clearance to fly back to Kiev. Within the first week she was missing kitty.

From your reaction, I can say you may have fun to dig in the Jinjer rabbit hole. First, I enjoy your reaction. It is not an impression, she write lyrics. And it surely help, when you sing, to be involved. As you found, one of the specialty of Jinjer is to blend gender. Pisces has some jazz vibe, this has reagae. And because you enjoyed it, you will find they are very creative about blending gender. Their last video is very good : home back official video. It is about war in Ukraine and the lost of homes. They do one of most surprising blend : Bossa nova. In Teacher Teacher official video, you have a bit of rap. And from what you said, I predict you will have a difficult time if you search for a bad song.

Jinjer toured together in Europe with Arch Enemy a few years ago. As a comment, their current Alissa White-Gluz has also been a singer for NW (but only a little) with Elize Ryd who sang more of the concert (an hour before they were to perform, NW then singer was run to the doctor and they could cancel or do the best of things. (2012 and it was the days after that Floor flew over to make history) They were with a band that was connected to NW called Kemilot and now both are in Swedish bands as I think you have already heard Elize Ryd and there I recommend Do or Die if you have not heard it with Amaranthe (Arch enemy former singer and now book gigs for both bands)
