I've been a professional drummer for 46 years. I've played ALL styles of music both live and in the studio. But I have to say that in all of my musical life, in all the bands I've been blessed to play and collaborate with, this "Follow the Light" track has just completely blown me away. The amazing "pocket" that these folks were able to establish is like NOTHING I've ever experienced. Especially given the fact that I understand that they didn't even record this video in the same studio with each other. Dirty Loops was home in Sweden, and Cory Wong (who plays with such funky precision) was in Minneapolis with his horns. They are all completely outstanding musicians, but that BASS!! THE BASS!! I hope he was standing near a bucket because the FUNK was just dripping off his hands. The triplet-slaps at the end of some of his phrases slayed me. His solo was on another planet. Him and the drummer (I've seen his solo in "Work Shit Out" and he's completely GOLDEN) are joined at the hip! I've watched this video about 11 times, and it drains me each time. MASTERPIECE!

I've listened to it more than two dozen times since they dropped it two days ago and it just keeps getting better. this is the collab I was hoping that it could happen someday, and my goodness it happened, I didn't expect it though lol...Cory is the perfect fit as guitarist for DLs, he brings the funk, and DLs type of music can blend that well with Cory's playing. Can't wait to buy the "Turbo" album, I managed to listen a preview of some of the tracks ( only few seconds) there from qrates website and they are all very goovy funky and just so upbeat lol...one of preview tracks "Hardtop" is showcasing more of Cory's funky guitar playing. I have been following him since the days of Vulfpeck, the guy is very funny too and easy going.

Dirty Loops is one favorite band now and one of the things I love about Dirty Loops is the timing and how the Aron is always right in the pocket with uncompromised timing. I love they way the the arrangements done with most songs and Jonah always the harmonies on lock down. The bassist is a master player and his bass licks are definitely one of a kind. Dirty Loops are taking songs and bringing them back life.

I've been saying for a long time now about Dirty Loops, that this is next generation music. They've managed to include "pop" (for what it's worth!) with Jazz, funk and everything in-between. Their skill set is amazing. Now they are bringing people like Cory Wong, (who I must be honest, I hadn't heard of, to my shame), so now they are adding more incredibly talented musos to their set list. Musicians who probably aren't getting recognition from the main steam outlets but now with Dirty Loops and of course Quincy Jones. we are getting the benefit of their skills. Bring it on.

you should check out Sokoninaru, they have a similar level of just unbelievable technical mastery, but as, like, really intense melodic mathcore, instead of really intense funk pop. there's access to so many incredible musicians now, it's really put the pressure on to improve and develop a unique artistic identity. Henrik is bae, and i love his and Cory's chemistry here.
