I am very fond of hearing old hindi classical songs rendered by Md Rafi sahab,Lataji,Talat Mehmood and many more.All have left indelible marks in our hearts with their melodious voice.Suman kalyanpur has rendered many melodious songs with Rafi Sahab preferably for Shammi Kapoor and other contemporary actors. We felt very happy that she was conferred with Padmabhushan very late.She deserves much more.Thanks

at least do not blame that she is ignored. check list of awards suman ji got on web...in 2008 she also got LATA mangeshkar award. Suman ji sat in house since 1980 and never came in public life. in 2008 her husband died and then some people searched her made ready to her for interview....

Dear friend..........she was not singing last 40 years........her husband died in 2008 . she was living in her own life and not came in any function and public festivals. still govt remembered her and given awards. check the list of awards she received.......plz do not ask bharat ratna.......because asha bhosale, S janaki, P sushila, vaani jayram , KS chitra are already in queue

Offcourse music directors could not take that risk so they avoid working with other female singers. Anuradha Paudwal and Runa Laila revealed in print interviews that Lata sabotaged their careers

​@@shirishkanhere9134 there were so many talented singers in that era like Suman, Vani Jayaram, Runa Laila, Hemlata, Usha Mangeshkar, Anuradha Paudwal etc but only Lata and Asha sang maximum number of songs while others remained underrated? Atleast in male singers we had Mukesh, Kishore, Rafi, Yesudas, Anwar etc but had no variety in female playback singers. Do you think there was no other talented singer apart from Lata and Asha? They suppressed their talent

​Mangeshkar sisters supressed other talented female singers for 30 years until Alka Yagnik came on scene in late 80s. After Lata became old and her voice became unbearable, we finally get a variety of female singers like Sadhana sargam, kavita krishnamurty, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi chauhan, Alisha, Rekha bhardawaj etc.

this is half truth.............go and check following songs and then tell me first and third song's voice is matching or not. only second song's voice match, no doubt. lata's career is huge 60 years and sumanji's career is just 25 years..........lata's voice changed after each 20 years......1) koi mere dil me khushi ban ke aaya (film - andaaz 1947 2) aaja aayi bahar dil hai bekaar o mere (film - rajkumar 1964) 3) mere khwabome jo aaye, aake muze chhed jaaye. (film DDLJ 1994)
