I’m having issues with the same machine, I’ve tried making a button hole doing all the correct procedures but it keeps making an alarming sound and I can’t get it back to the correct settings afterwards even if I turned it of it comes back up with the noise and other symbols and won’t sew can I get some answers what to do if it behaves like that. Hi! It takes a bit of practice. A couple of tips. Make sure your needle is fully up, you want the take up lever in the up position. The hook in the needle threader wont line up if the needle isn't fully up and you risk bending the hook. You want to let go of the thread in your hand as you let go of the threader. If you hold your thread, it can't feed back through the needle. Be careful not to pull the thread back out, grab the loop made and pull thru the needle. I hope this helps! -TB

Hi! The "paper" is interfacing. Yes, it highly recommended to use interfacing when sewing buttonholes. You will get much better results. Interfacing comes in a variety of types and can be found at most fabric stores. Thank you! -TB

I'm amazed that Singer DIDN'T put a drop in bobbin shuttle in this machine after all it is computerised, why use the old style bobbin shuttle? It makes no sense at all! It would be good to add a slow or regular speed option for beginners, I cannot find a Singer sewing machine with a twin speed option any where.

I currently have this machine. I find it to be a good machine but not a great machine. One important thing I do not like is that every time you stop sewing the needle raises and you lose your spot on your work. The reverse button is a bit glitchy, it will do about three stitches and after a couple more presses might do three more or several more. It also does not stop on a dime it will continue to sew another one to three stitches after releasing the foot pedal. The bobbin is difficult to access. I prefer a drop-in bobbin and a clear plate so I can see when the bobbin is getting close to empty. The extension table is uneven and flimsy, snapping it into place is tricky every time. The cover is useless. It's difficult to pick up the machine with the cover on it does not attach to any part of the machine, I've made my own cover. *These are pretty much my only complaints with this machine other than that I think it does a great job with many things, it's stitches are beautiful, it keeps uniform stitches and is easy to adjust tensions and Stitch preferences. *If you can live with those (*) issues then it's a good buy. I unfortunately cannot live with those issues but haven't had the fortune of obtaining the kind of machine I had previously which was Kenmore (rare)-Tight Stitch... OMG!!! WHAT A DREAM MACHINE!! It was accidentally discarded in a move by family helping me, losing it completely broke my heart and I couldn't bring myself sew on this Singer repacement for a couple years afterward without breaking down sobbing. I've been sewing since I was 5 some 50+ years! I've used many different machines but I would have THAT Tight Stitch machine until my grave! If you're ever able to get one Grab it! No digital can compare. It's a highly functional manual machine that you have complete control over, it does it the way YOU want! Absolutely. Adjust your stitch length to the longest stitch available and stitch two parallel lines about 1/2" apart. You can then pull the thread ends to adjust the gathers as desired.
