There is a lot of Malui influence in Sri Lanka Kerala kings sent troops to fight help the Sinhalese kings fight the Tamil invaders. So they had local marriages. And some stayed back. The southern part has Kerala influence

It's great to see you are enjoying Sri Lankan food! They look amazing. There is one correction on the lumprice(Lumpraise). It didn't come all the way from the Netherlands with Dutch. It was introduced in Sri Lanka by Dutch Burgers (a Sri Lankan ethnic group of mixed Dutch, Portuguese Burghers, and Sri Lankan descent). We believe that they have created their version of rice and curry. It may have some influences from other rice and curry eating traditions but it is authentic to Sri Lanka. As per my understanding, you cannot find this dish in the Netherlands.

I saw some confusion in the comment section about the pronunciation of pittu(or puttu) Here in sri lanka we call it "PITTU" not puttu..so, don't get confuse about that..

No, it's different! I've tried both! in lamprais ,they don't add buttermilk or any sort of pickle only similarity is anchovies Lamprais is way better because it got multiple types of meat like pork chicken prawn sometimes beef and pothichoru is got more milky taste and more watery nature init

FYI, we were never a Dutch colony, although the Dutch controlled a few coastal cities. Have some pride, man. You are insulting the kings who fought against the Portuguese, Dutch, and English. Nothing authentic about that Lamprais.. Authentic Sri Lankan Dutch Burgher Lamprais consists of Small grained rice cooked in broth of some sort, Most commonly Beef broth but can be Veg broth, A mixed meat curry, Meat cut in to small pieces NOT whole chicken legs, Blatchan (A small ball of prawn paste), A frikkadel or cutlet and may be fried ash plantains, Everything else they sell as "Lump rice" is just rice and curry packed in a banana leaf
