Thanks, Jeff. I’m really loving this, which I have selected as my warm-up of the year 2023! Of course, I have to switch octaves from time to time, but I call that an added bonus. The final exercise (from 40:24) is a real winner with that minor one chord - I just have to loop round and do the whole exercise again in a different octave. Thank you again, and may you keep going strong throughout 2023 and beyond! 🙏

Alto it is then.. my guide dig was leaving the room when I tried to do a standard warm up. Now he sits quietly and even wagged his tail. I may actually be able to hold a note by the end of this lockdown. Thank you sir :)

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge; I would not have access to this kind of thing with private lessons. This is making quarantine feel so fun! What I always wanted to do.

After flirting with this since it was published I finally took the time to do it. My voice feels amazing 😍 Love the idea of having the intention of the pitch, creating the environment for it and then letting my body do it. Takes away a lot of pressure. Thank you, Jeff 💚
@JeffRolka4 жыл бұрын
Wonderful Shallalla! Exactly! So much pressure can be taken off when we have our intended pitch in mind and focus energy on creating the system to produce it. Well done! Thank you! Jeff

Thank you for these warm ups. I have had trouble finding warms ups for contralto, and these are the best ones I found. I am working on trying to extend my range, but I’m finding once I get to high range, during other general warm ups, I tend to sort of peak and get “stuck” and it’s hard to transition back down. Any tips?
@JeffRolka4 жыл бұрын
Great question!!!! Good news: if you're making the transition up, you're flexible enough to allow for vocal fold elongation. Nicely done! If you're not transitioning back down, however, you're losing that flexibility or release, as it is more commonly spoken of. Try re-upping your focus on your abdominal engagement as you begin the descending scale. Often we disengage and the vocal fold has to take on more tension in order to produce the pitch we want. If we focus on the abdominal engagement, we can maintain the appropriate airflow and allow the voice to transition back into the lower registers. I hope that helps! Jeff

thanks for this amazing video ! how often would you advise singers to do such long warm ups throughout the week ?
@JeffRolka4 жыл бұрын
it really depends on many factors! The point is to gauge what is working for you, and helping you improve and sing your repertoire the way that you want. The vocalizations help us develop skills. If your repertoire requires more, longer practice periods focused on what you need to learn would be advisable. Best, Jeff

Hey Jeff! Do you have warm ups geared towards voice control? I find my voice a bit shaky during the warm ups on the "a" and "ah" and "o". I find that I'm not as stable as I use to be.
@JeffRolka3 жыл бұрын
These are all basically about control - if you're shaky, you may want to assess your appoggio practice. Thank you for watching! Thank you for being here! Best! Jeff

Do you have any tips for getting through the secundo passasio (forgive my spelling) without my voice cracking? I'm really struggling with that
@JeffRolka7 ай бұрын
Absolutely! That's mostly what my channel is about! You're leaving your comment on the video that I'd suggest, but if you want a bit more focus only on the secondo passaggio: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaDUlpuDr7FomNE kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXSlfIVpoKaoiJY kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGmneZ58pr-Yl7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6PClJ1obc-hhqc Best!
