This is fresh and fun. And a good way to introduce a young student to the reality that there is more to life than Major and Minor. Thanks!

I think I needed a warm up to do the first half of this warm up 😊 But the chord exercise in the 2nd half is really nice sounding and fun to sing!

This is a cool name. I have no idea what it means. Thank you Jeff

it's just a major scale but the 7th note (leading tone) is a half step lower than usual. which gives it a slightly more bluesy sound. if you want to be technical it's the 5th mode of the true major scale. so say you're in the key of C major. going from G to G would be the mixolydian. which is basically G major but you got F instead of F# at the end. G sounds like the tonal center. but still under the umbrella of C major if that makes sense

@@russianpaul77I am having a hard time with the beginning. It’s very hard. I think it’s an advanced warmup. Jeff always keeps me on my toes. I have to read this comment because it’s a lot of information. I guess you are a advanced student or teacher.

i'm a teacher, and sorry lol i was trying to simplify it. if you know the regular major scale (do re mi fa sol la ti do) it's that 7th note "ti" that's just a half step lower than usual. you can hear it, it's the funky note. but at the end of the day you don't need to think too much about the theory just have fun singing along. it can be helpful sometimes to slow down the playback speed of the video. i often sing along with Jeff at 0.75x speed 😄 @@jerseylovesteph

I laughed to the thumbnail, why not Ionian with an Iron, Dorian with a DMC DeLorean, Phrygian with a Phrygian cap, etc.
