A fan since 1956 when I was 12, he was so beautiful and talented. Please react to his gospel number in this 1968 comeback special, production number. he sang everything from R&B, country, rock and even light opera as one of his great influences was opera singer Mario Lanza. After his army service in Germany, he recorded "It's Now or Never" with an almost operatic range. He really got deeper and more controlled in his 1970 "Bridge Over Troubled Water", beautiful. Thanks for reacting to Elvis, I never get over him even at 80 years old. I sang In my youth, and was coached by a teacher who had taught Rosa Ponsell at the met. Thank you, I subbed. 😍

Yes Lauren, you picked a great choice as he is live not studio recording. You could also pick the Aloha from Hawaii recordings that Elvis did that were not included in that concert with no audiences. The song No More, Early Morning Rain will give a real great sample of his voice.

It's such a nice rendition but Elvis initially did not want to record this song. In fact a lot of the techniques you mentioned were signature of what he did in the original recording that he tried to intentionally tank by him (and the backup singers, the Jordannaires) overly hamming it up but the song became a hit nonetheless!
