I bet you miss those days ! I drive units for a living and it's not quite as exciting! Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Hi back in the day my school mates and I would travel from Oban to Glasgow for concerts in the old Greens Playhouse/Apollo and catch the ghost train (which I think carried the overnight mail) back home it was never busy which meant we could sleep in the old corridor type carriages.

@@thomasshepard6030Yep, I remember the Friday and Saturday night ballast turns only too well ! Been out of the industry for many years now, what I wouldn't give to relive those days now though, good times back then !

I remember lying in bed and hearing the double headed 37's on the iron ore trains to Consett up here in County Durham, I live about a mile from a 1 in 35 stretch near Annfield Plain and to hear them labouring up on full bore was orgasmic to say the least...

Having seen the gradient in real life 37s must have sounded amazing pulling the ore trains up to consett

As a driver manager at Friegtliner we would hire in class 37 when short of class 47 locos. Sometimes in mult, but normally single, working flat out and hard. Lots of clag and noise. But real pulling power from these tractors. The refurbs and Channel tunnel beast were the best.....

That EE chug of a 37 is so unique,During my youth i number bashed at Bristol Parkway & you could hear them slogging out of the Severn tunnel with freight trains. The noise echoed as the lines ran in a deep cutting and it seemed to funnel the sound like a trumpet.Excellent video again & another which stirred my senses.Thank you.

I don't understand why there is always a rear locomotive that seems to be a dummy with class 37 trains. The shorter they are, the more likely there is going to be 2 locomotives
