I have the Supply and the Twig. As Matt says, they are both great razors. But I much prefer the Twig. A very nimble razor that produces a smooth and efficient shave. It’s also good that the Twig can be used with any DE blade (snapped in half, of course, with the wrapper still on) enabling the user to select the blade that best suits their facial skin and beard growth.

I started wet shaving about 6 months ago and have purchased quite a collection of DE razors since that time. I have the Leaf Thorn and it is quickly becoming my go to razor. If I'm going out and can't afford to do any facial damage before I leave, I use the Thorn. It gives a BBS shave with no mishaps.

Nice review Matt! Since my switch to wet shaving with a proper razor, I’m only having to shave every other day but actually looking forward to it. It’s definitely taken what was a tedious, boring chore and changed it into a fun world of using different razors, blades, brushes, soaps, & aftershaves on a weekly basis. I truly do like the fact that it requires you to focus on the few minutes that you are actually shaving. Cheers! Doc Mike P

Like you, Matt, I've tried both razors and both perform really well. Particularly as it concerns irritation reduction - if I curb my enthusiasm I can eliminate most of it. I will confess, however, that I was very late to the party on the Twig. Initially I turned my nose up. More or less I counted it a transition product... something lesser men might try if they were still too afraid to shave "the right way." You can imagine my surprise after my first shave. I immediately put in an order for a second one (you know, a back up)! Both give a superior (albeit different feeling) shave. Regardless of which razor I reach for the result is always the same...a big, goofy grin and a smooth effortless shave.

Thank you for the comparison. I have both and use both. I noticed that you held the Supply differently than you used the Twig, which is why there is an initial difference in the feeling of the skin. I have to "admit" I like the Twig more than the Supply. They are both great razors, but the Twig reminds me of the traditional way I shaved for decades. The Supply can't really reach well under the nose, while the Twig has a smaller top and can easily reach. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for your reviews and comparison videos. I'd been doing a lot of research on the Supply razor and after your demonstrations and reviews I decided to take the plunge. My Supply SE (I don't need the settings) arrived yesterday and I used it for the first time this morning. Excellent shave. I was afraid it might not live up to the hype, but it really does. I did get a tiny nick or two, but I'm sure it was due to the learning curve/user error, not the razor. I've been a DE shaver for most of my life so it took some time to get used to the angle, and to resist using pressure. It's true, the weight of the razor is all you need. No regrets.

I really like the Supply Single Edge 2.0. And I also use the milder base plate. It's a great shaver and it is in my razor rotation. I never really liked the idea of the pivoting head design with the multiple half DEs for the Leaf. It was too much a throwback to the cartridge designs. But the Twig caught my eye immediately. I have one waiting for me when I travel to the States this summer (shipping, VAT and import fees are just too much from the US when living in Sweden) and I very much look forward to trying it out in a month and a half or so.

I have both and each provides a very nice, close and comfortable shave. I enjoy the different experience I get from them, as I have from my many other shavers in the collection. I might favor the Twig simply for its maneuverability with the narrow head. Both are part of the rotation.

I considered both of these when I first bought a single blade razor switching from a Gillette Sensor 3. It was the lack of choices that put me against the Supply razor. I love my Twig! It is my daily shaver! I also really like the Hansen mild. These are the only 2 that I have and not disappointed at all with either one!

These might be nice razors but lemme just say, I just got my Rex Supply Co. Sentry Slant a few days ago and just this morning shaved with it. I tell you it has to be the best razor hands down that I own. Even with a slant and only like 1-2 days beard stubble I couldn’t even feel the blade. It was so smooth and just nice feeling on my skin. I have a Leaf Thorn. I think it gives a good shave but I cut myself really badly leaving a 2 inch scar. The issue was that there is no feeling of gradually tightening the handle it just reaches it closed positioned suddenly. What happened was that it loosened suddenly too and hence the cut as the head moved.

Great review Matt, I have both of those razors (Supply SE) and Twig. Both are wonderful as you said with a different feel. The thicker Supply Black Label blade is the only injector blade I’ll use now (tried very many, including Schick, not sharp enough for me). The Black Label also saved me from selling my Parker Adjustable SE razor, as other blades gave me a poor shave with it. The Twig is just fun to use and is a great 1/2-DE razor blade razor. And as you said well at the end, it’s all about the experience, not a grear contest. I love the aromatherapy aspect, and varying soaps, razors, blades, splashes, balms, all of it. So, in theory less expensive, until you go down the rabbit hole. But that’s also a great experience with so many amazing small businesses catering to this industry, like Razor Emporium. I think you should try out an Occam’s Razor, they are unique and awesome too. Very mild yet efficient, the golden combo!!

The leaf system was designed as a “low waste” razor and the twig is their solution for shaving body areas that are harder to get with their larger razor. I’d like to see it tested on such an area, perhaps an armpit.

I tried both the supply razors including the new se model. For whatever reason I tend to cut up my face with both of them. After numerous tries, I ended up returning them. I do like their shaving cream and kept that. I do own a twig. I tend to use a nacet or a astra premium with them and it works just fine. If I am not careful I will end up with a weeper or two but not to the extent of what I was getting with the supply razors.

Matt💈🪒nice shave demo. I have an old Schick injector from the 60's but rarely use it, no need now that I have a Konsul😉and a full stable of razors to keep it company. The determining factor IMO with single edge razors is the blade, longevity of the injector style or variety of the double edge snapped in half. Of course one can go the Artist Club route but you have to up your game there. Great video as always, thanks. See ya next time. Enjoy!

I have had the Twig for a little while now and yes…. I bought it from you guys! I have not regretted it at all! I am one of those who transitioned from cartridges (Sensor 3). FYI…. At the time I made my purchase, the Supply was almost double the price. I find the Twig very forgiving and I have (much to my amazement) not had any problems with it nicking either of the 2 moles on my face. My blades of choice are Dorco red package or prime or Persona platinum. The Dorco blue package (not Prime) do not work well for me.

Nice shave Matt! I have the Twig, it's a really good shaver. When I first got it I wasn't too sure about it. I was looking for things I didn't like about it, but I haven't found one, well apart from trying to keep my fingerprints off of it lol! 😎👍Next time you shave with it, try holding it from the bottom grip area(the part you twist to open). For me it's the best place to hold it to achieve the best shave angle, and it feels more efficient. Have a good one! Steve

I was an early adopter of both Rockwell and Supply. Both are wel made and well crafted. I now actual shave with 2 differnet razors, a slant and an adjustable DE razor. My issue with Supply, just came down to cost and ease of use. With a DE, I use one side and a time, and thus double my number of shaves per blade. With the injector blades, I found that they are slightly more expensive, especially since I am only getting the use of one side. Also, fewer makes of injector blades than DE blades. Therefore, ots not a knock on the razor, more an issue with use and ability. I like the weight of the Supply and I think it would be a great razor to transition from cartriage. Just doesn't work with my shave style. Like I said, I shave with 2 razors and adjust the blade gap for different sections of my face. This is not really doable with the Supply. Lastly, I want a RE shirt! Please. Today, May 20th is actually my birthday too

Is it the old supply 2.0 your using? I just ordered the pro, definitely give that one a shot! I found a huge problem with the twig was that I had a tendency to open the head whilst shaving. It's just a little too easy to twist that handle when shaving for me personally Edit: forgot to mention that supply has those new black label blades out that are apparently amazing, at least from the majority of reviews I've read. I feel like this showdown would have been a bit different ultimately

I have the Supply 2.0, Pro, and SE. My fav is the SE. The Black label are fantastic! I like to take them out of the plastic injector key and put them into an empty aluminum one. The Twig and I have not been an ecstatic couple - I tend to cut myself with it. Probably user error - I’ve shaved with injectors for 47 years and DE razors for only about 3. I’ve got more DE razors than remotely reasonable. My favorites are RazoRock Mamba, RazoRock BBS, Rockwell 6S (hand polished), and Gillette Slim or FatBoy. Favorite blades are Astra Blue, Nacet, and for 1/2 precut: PermaSharp.

What did you think about that little knob/button on this Supply SE? I think that button is great to just remove the part to of the razor’s head to clean the inside, which is convenient, but I’m not crazy about how the turning of the button/knob feels. It’s not a smooth turn that comes to a stop, turning it doesn’t feel good quality. How long is that spring on it going to last? And it’s hard to tell when you should stop tightening it and know when you should stop tightening it. What were your thoughts about that? And can you use regular double edge razors to pop in half and insert in this Supply Co. SE Razor? Thanks:)

Don't have the Twig but tried the Supply and cut myself badly with the first shave as I somehow managed to roll the edge of the blade on the blade stops; I somehow idiot'ed an idiot-proof blade installation process. No texturing on the handle (although they do have a silicone grip now) made it difficult to handle while wet. As much as I tried and really liked the quality, I just couldn't get the angle right (and I bought the additional guides) and the limited availability of blades made this a pass for me. Their support was good and opted to keep it for a partial refund rather than deal with the process of sending it back (since they'll trash it anyway).

If you’re interested in a DE, the most popular starter is the Merkur 34C. It’s the Toyota Camry of the DE market. It does the job, it’s affordable, and it’s very forgiving. You won’t knick your face up while learning how to use it.

You can't go wrong with the Henson. It was my first DE razor when I started wet shaving and it is awesome. I have two of them now (medium and aggressive). The medium is still pretty mild. I also have the Leaf Thorn which is the more aggressive version of the Twig but is still very mild. Like the Henson, it is also a superior razor. You can't go wrong with either of these two. I have the Merkur 34G and the Edwin Jagger DE89 that most people recommend for beginners. Both are great beginner razors as well but I prefer the Henson and Thorn over them. If coming from cartridge razors, it is much easier to get the angle right on these two and they both offer a better shave IMO. Warning though: There's no turning back once you start with one of these!🙂

I have Henson AL13 mild- its great! Very user friendly. Its on the lighter side- when i want a heavier feel i swap out the handle with the king c gilette handle.

For a really good first razor I’d recommend the Rockwell 6C (six gap choices) for about $50 or the 2C (two gap choices) for about $30. For about $100 you could get the Stainless Steel 6S. These are fantastic razors and you could learn what level of mildness or aggression works best for you. #1 rec would be 6C. If you Google or search KZbin you’ll find these at or near the top of almost everyone’s DE fav list.

I really wish I could use my Supply razor. It's great looking, great feeling in hand, and absolutely the worst shave I've had since a Mach 5. Clearly that's not the case for everyone. I've tried all the base plates and even Schick and cut down Feather Artisan w/ wire guard blades. Doesn't matter. It's long since past the trial period. I wish I had returned it.

I prefer the Supply SE - not the one you used that looks like a version 2. The Supply Black Label blades are fantastic - only ones comparable are Japanese Schick blades that take forever to get from Japan. The Chinese Schick blades are not as good and their QC leaves something to be desired. The original Supply Blades are made by Personna and I don’t like those at all. I’ve shaved with injectors since 1965 and know them well. NOS platinum plus Schick blade are also good. I shave very often with NOS Schick Type L and Type M (adjustable) and I love them as well as Type I and J older razors. If traveling with only carry-on you can load one blade into Schick razors without issue from TSA and these blades easily go for 10 shaves or 2 - 3 weeks. I’ve used the Leaf Twig and I like it ok but I’ve cut myself a few times with the Twig and never with the injectors - maybe because I have 47 years of experience with injectors?! But do try the Supply SE.

Correction: I’ve shaved with injectors for 57 years - since I was 14 - I’m 71 now!

Thanks Matt. Why but one of these and not a DE? The DE seems like the better option.

Are there any other single side, single blade razors like the Leaf Twig, Supply Injector, or the OneBlade Genesis? I like the Genesis design, but they're so expensive!
