Cracking video Dave, including having become a dab hand with the drone shots. Makes me think about taking up sailing again! Keep 'em coming. Tony

Funny you say about the windshift by the beach - I use the North passage whenever i can ( compared to the Needles) and have found that a few times - Lovely when it happens isn't it!!!

Hi Jason, yes I was expecting to get headed and have to tack but we went on and on, just following the coast. Magic really. And nice and calm in there. Thanks for watching, best wishes .... Dave

Wow! I'll have to tell Darglow ... Maybe I'll get commission :-) I doubt it. I hope it works out for you, I'm delighted with the new found speed. I actually overtake people now !! Haven't made it down to Plymouth. Just an endless string of gale like Westerlies. Maybe later.. Take Care .... Dave

Great vid log Dave. Nice weather, and boat moving well in winds with that new prop. I mostly single hand the days, a different approach needed, and yes mooring buoys can be fun to pick up. Well done on getting the pole up by yourself, i find that can be tricky, needs careful planning and setup. Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark, the weather has been all over the place here, lots of very strong Westerlies. Just managed to grab a few days of relatively nice weather. I made the booming out pole from a very light but strong aluminium alloy used in Antennas. The original pole was very heavy and I worried it could carry me overboard if I lost control of it. This one is about a quarter of the weight.

Really enjoying your videos. Which day was that? The fabulous conditions make me think it was one that we were there too. Whilst we love sailing, our own boat is a 30’ motor cruiser which we keep at Cobb’s Quay Marina. We are fortunate that our house is close to the water, we overlook Poole Harbour, across to the Pottery Pier end of Brownsea Island. Lovely part of the world… we moved (retired) here from Surrey/W London 5 yrs ago. Wish we’d done it sooner 👍

Hi Garry, thanks for watching :-) From my diary I was in Studland Bay for two nights - 24th, 25th June. Ideal motor boat weather, almost no wind but not ideal for me :-( I enjoy all of it though. I've got another Poole visit video on the stocks, that one is quite different with TOO MUCH wind.. You take care ... Best Wishes Dave

@@davesailing ah! The glorious week that we ‘missed’ 🤦‍♂️ We had our granddaughter with us and, at 2yrs, she’s just a bit young to enjoy a day on the boat so we walked to sandbanks beach which was also pretty nice. Keep up the videos. I’ve a few on my channel ‘garryrobson’ if you’re interested.

@@davesailing catching up on all your videos, Dave. Really good, very watchable and some occasional education too. First boat I ever went on was my boss’ 28’ Ketch, ‘Stirlina’ in 1982. He’s been my business partner since 1985 and he sold the boat in 1984. But you won’t believe this… this summer, 40+ years later, Stirlina re-appeared, not only back on the south coast, but in our marina! Not only that, of all the 1,200 boats there, Stirlina is just 8 boats away from our own. Unbelievable. Keep up the good work.

@@davesailing absolutely unbelievable. Quite weird too, if it had been on any other pontoon, even on the other side of ours, I’d have never known it was there. Without that boat, I doubt I’d have ever become a boater, I lived in London, no previous interest, etc. I even doubt I’d be living by the water here in Poole. Or watching your videos. It really does all come down to that 28’ ketch. All the best.

Great video! We are thinking of doing a similar passage for the first time. It looks like there is a chance of not finding a free eco mooring buoy on a busy bank holiday weekend. Would you agree?
@davesailing
@davesailing Ай бұрын
I guess there's always a chance, though a lot of small motor boats come to Studland and only stay for the day and return to their home in the evening, leaving the buoy available. You can also anchor just off the shore in the area, I know several people who have done that. If that doesn't work, there's lots of places to anchor in Poole harbour. Pottery Pier being a favourite of mine. I hope your trip goes well. The weather has been dreadful this month and I've not been far, which is disappointing. Fair Winds and tides to you ..... Dave

Hi, its £10 on those buoys in Studland Bay, pay on a smart phone, if you haven't got a smartphone i Assume its free 😀

Hi Ray, I did work it out in the end. Seemed a bit strange using a car park payment app for a mooring. But I guess in the councils eyes, it's not dissimilar. £10 is quite reasonable, shame about the endless wash from powerboats and jet ski's. Thanks for watching, best wishes .... Dave
