Wow ....Simon thanks so much for getting in touch. I often wondered how you were going up there. What a coincidence Rob being your ex-neighbour....I was stunned as you are the only person I know living at Lennox Heads. I retired from editing at Seven a couple of years ago, but still have the bug to spend hours in front of a computer editing away, actually cutting videos about what I like instead. It would be truly fantastic if you came on a Raid one day, what sort of boat is Nick building? send me your email address to sailingkatelouise@gmail.com, thanks again for making my day, cheers Paul

I used to sail Moreton Bay back in the late 70's in a Maurice Griffith Eventide. One time my mate got washed overboard. I went into panic mode until he stood up and the water was around his ankles. I've never laughed so hard. We had hit a sandbar. Good thing it was a bilge keeler. We got blown off with no damage and continued on to Wellington Point. Great video, brings back fond memories.

I remember sailing my younger by 15months brother at the tiller and we were just ready to jib ,me looking ahead and ducking to dodge the boom, the boom rope slackened and the wind caught the main sheet as my brother turned the tiller and next thing as the wind filled the main sheet of our Gwen 12 the skiff jolted and the next thing I recall is me looking back to see my brother in the water and me wondering if that was UM maybe not what the skipper is supposed to be doing. But that was the first day sailing we got better as the day went on and no unexpected evacuations of the skipper or crew(ME) I loved it loved the sea the water air and fresh salt spray something I will always remember to this day I'm 70+ now and the ocean and the coast are nearly 370kilometres away but not forgotten

Hi Paul, we thoroughly enjoy your channel and emphasis on small boat cruising. We had only used our Scruffie 16 as a day sailor, always coming back to land to our camper van on our trips away. When you mentioned the trip in a comment in one of your previous videos, it gave us the impetus to sort out an onboard camping setup to be part of the trip. As your videos captured, it was an outing that provided a wonderful on-water experience for a cruising dingy enthusiast and the opportunity to meet the Sydney Raid and local Tindarra crew. As inland sailors from Killarney our home base is the Warwick Sailing Club on Leslie Dam just outside of Warwick, so it was a great new experience for us on many levels. Cheers Sonya and Russell

I'm currently renovating a mid-70's ply/glass 15 foot sailing dinghy that came attached to a trailer I that bought for another potential build for 800 bucks. After removing about 30 percent of the hull sheathing, the keel, keelson, two rotted out stringers and the transom she's now coming together nicely. Epoxy resin!!! The Boat Bodger's Best Buddy saves the day. Altogether the total cost on the water will be around 16-18 hundred bucks as all the rig, rudder, centreboard and sails came with it. The only clue to it's identity is the name "Windfall" under all the paint, and I suspect it may have started life in a boatyard in the SE Qld area. I'm in Maryborough Qld, should be afloat about mid summer, and will definitely be looking you guys up in future, Cheers, Ian

You can go up the channel to the Big Sand Hills from there. There are hidey holes here and there if you take that approach to getting to Moreton. @SailingKateLouise
@SailingKateLouise 2 ай бұрын
The Stornaway is interesting. The design is 25 years old so not the fastest boat around, but some say it's the journey not a race. As a Lugsail yawl with no center -board and a skeg keel she is slow to tack, but this design aligns more with fishing boats of a bygone era. Downwind fast and using the whisker poles even faster. The Stornaway has several updates in the new Kits available soon in the states. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
