I coparent! I had my daughter from birth to 13. Her dad is and always was in the picture. His career in the military kept him away. He’s retired now and she lives with him now full time I get her on her breaks. It’s so hard but she and him needed this. She’ll be 15 this coming year. Tomorrow she flies in and I get 8 beautiful days with her. Merry Christmas it’s definitely different her not being home that’s for sure. It gets a little easier. I still cry over it.

Hey Vicky, first of all merry Christmas 🎄 I have been in the same situation as you and it’s so hard but I think you are an amazing mum doing an amazing job. You have your own business, you are a great homemaker, and a great mum to your little ones so don’t let anyone tell you any different or make you feel you’re not doing a good enough job. I am guilty of putting myself down as a single mum of boys with autism. It’s hard but so worth every minute. You do what you need to do for you and your boys. Hi Vic it is hard and not nice at all but just keep busy have some you time and when you have them just make the most of it and enjoy it kids are stronger than we think and if its not working and you have tried you can't do no more and it's not always the best either to stay for the kids you do what's right for you stay strong your a great mum ❤❤

Oh Vic I’m so sorry things didn’t work out with Ben. I know you were really hoping they would. And not just for you, but for your sons as well. I lived the same. My son was still in diapers and my daughter was 6 when me and their dad split up. So every other year they’d spend Christmas Eve and morning with me and then go to their dads in the afternoon. And on those years it was great. I’d be so exhausted from being up all night putting stuff together and setting up. But on the years they went to their dads it was so sad. And even when they came home in the afternoon, it wasn’t the same as having them wake up and seeing the excitement. They’d come home over-stimulated, filled with candy and so tired from not sleeping the night before and getting up before dawn. It just wasn’t the same. So when you’re a little blue, definitely pamper yourself and do whatever you know helps lift your spirits and REST. Because the whole rest of the time you get to be mom and dad. And I’m going to tell you this….because I can tell what a merciful sweet soul you are. While you’re working up custody legalities, get everything in writing. Medical insurance, mental health insurance, dental insurance in case when he’s a teenager he needs braces. Any sports he may play, or classes outside of regular school. If he decides to go to university or college, who will be responsible financially for everything. Fight for yourself and for your son. This is war right now. Don’t lay down and take a lot of BS. This is going to spell out what kind of childhood he’s going to have. You can always build bridges and mend fences later. When your son comes to you wanting to play football, or a school yearbook, or a car, or if he needs long term care (I’m praying THAT never happens) who is going to pay for all that? Ben is his father, and yes, you have a responsibility too, but are you ever going to be able to work outside the home? Or will you need to be home to take him to appointments and therapies and such? Anyway, I made that mistake, tried to end it without ruffling anyone’s feathers. And I regretted it. We did NOT remain friends. Very few do. Honestly. And I didn’t have paperwork stating all the things he should have been responsible for. Don’t do it to yourself. And take care. The boys will be back before you blink twice and next Christmas will be your turn!

I had to share my daughter on Christmas so if I did not see her on Christmas I would see her on Boxing Day and Santa made a special trip that day just for her so I could get a Christmas morning with her in Boxing day!

I do yule with my kids 21st Dec then they go to their dad's at Xmas so they get to be with both parents to celebrate different times. Hope this helps

Me and my ex have alternate Christmases with our kids I have 4 with him this Christmas was my Christmas with them and next is his it's so lonely and emtpy without them but I have got used to it now and enjoy my turn with them even more. Me and my husband who I have a 6 year old with decided 2 months ago to split he still lives here just now til he finds a place when he goes it will hit me then and next Xmas will be an odd one but hey ho I'm kind of looking forward to the freedom of being single I can have the house anyway I like and not have to ask someone elses opinion 👍good luck to you and I hope u are coping well xx
