Single Node Failure VMware NSX-T / NSX Management Cluster. How to recover..

So your day has not started too well. One of the nodes in the VMware NSX-T / NSX Management cluster is gone. Don;t Panic. Management and Control Plane are still functioning, but you need to fix this fast before another node dies.. This video will show you 2 different ways on how to recover that failed node..

I lost admin as well as root credentials of my NSX -T Manager node and i have single manager which left me handicapped how do i recover from here, i have 3 edge nodes.

Sorry to hear that. You may to do a reinstall and hopefully you have a backup of your NSX Environment. If you have Grub enable (more than likley not) you can do this.. docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-NSX-T-Data-Center/3.2/administration/GUID-8816B842-2EC4-40A8-A618-F68DB29FABD2.html Have a good one

Just to add to this. If you have NSX setup with AD or some other Directory service, if someone has the Enterprise Admin role they can reset the Admin password.. Going to assume no here.

Unfortunately not, no GRUB enabled either.The only option left it to reinstall, no backup.Just wondering if i reinstall NSX Mgr again with all same details which had running previously.How do i register my existing Edge nodes ? Waiting...thank you for taking time and replying. You are awesome 😊

This is a join command that can be run on the Edge Nodes but you need the NSX admin password.. Even if you were able to join the edges, what about the segments, gateways, transport nodes and f/w rules.. Right now your dataplane is functioning, doing what you describe may bring it down.. You may want to open a call with VMware support.. Keep us posted..
