Love being a single retiree. Money is tight, but I am comfortable. I moved to a rural area up in the mountains. My neighbors are cows.🐄 I don't get lonely, and don't miss having other people around me.

Thanks for your tips! My husband passed away shortly after we retired. I'm doing many of the things you mentioned already. Something new for me is traveling solo. There's a tour company that I really like and feel comfortable traveling solo with. I've met some wonderful people and some of them are traveling solo too!

I retired at 50, eleven years ago. I like and want to be alone. Or, shall I say, “leave me alone.” I’ve been alone my whole life, except for a four year marriage. I’m an only child, a latchkey child. I’ve eaten 99 percent of my meals alone; likewise, I’ve slept alone 99 percent of the time. I am 🦋Papillon🦋

I am from india.retired in 2020.both of us decided to settle in our hometown where we have most of our relatives and friends. Before retirement both of us visited few senior living complex to buy property.but finally we decided to buy 3bhk apartment in gated community where all age people are staying,as you rightly said there are lot of things to learn from young people. We also got big bonus as my two college met also bought apartment in the same community.

I'm 74, my Dad, Mother & 2 brothers and sister are dead(early onset Alzheimers). All my friends have drifted away or have died, 2 by suicide. I have found that loneliness and Depression is an epidemic of the elderly. Weeks go by without me communicating with another human being. I feel that life has no meaning, no purpose anymore. I have a persistent pain problem due to botched surgery, I am unreliable so I don't volunteer. My GP has me addicted, sorry, dependent on 2 drugs, sorry, medications. I feel that I am just waiting to die and my GP is waiting until I have a catastrophic medical symptom(s) so he can refer me to the appropriate specialist. If you have read this entire comment I thank you.

Eric- first of all I am so sorry for all your losses. Losing family is very difficult at any time of life. Are you a reader? Do you have a community center in your town or a place you can go to surround yourself with others? Loneliness is huge challenge for our retirement population. The one thing I would tell you that I have seen work is to change one thing you do each day for the better. Just one thing … Read one day Call someone one day Eat healthier one day Engage in your faith one day Drop into a community center one day Make sure you drink 12 big glasses of water one day My point is to find power and control in your day to incrementally make your life better Thank you for following us Be well

Yes, IF that single man doesn't have a hobby! If you have always loved flight, you may well also enjoy flying Radio Controlled airplanes. I have loved aviation all my life. Started with control line flying at about 12 years old, then advanced to Radio Control. I still today, now retired, love to fly my 10-14lb. RC airplanes. It can be cheap or expensive to get into RC, that's up to you. Join your local RC club, talk to some members, then go out to their flying field to see if it's for you. If so, like me at about age 13, I fell for it, and have had a Beautiful RC history ever since. So much, that I took a pause in my RC flying, to get my "Private Pilots Certificate" bought my first plane, a Beechcraft Musketeer, then a Grumman "Yankee". Today, no more real planes, just my RC planes, and I fly as often as I can, and LOVE IT!

There is a big difference in being alone and being lonely. I find this content to be a bit off putting. There is a reason why, after divorce or the death of a spouse, most women chose to remain single and most men chose to jump right back into a partnership.

Very nice tips. Thank you very much for the vedio. I am not fully retired yet but slowely transitioning to retirement. I have been doing some of the tips you have given I will use the rest also like trying to talk to some one daily and keeping a programme or a plan for everyday. One more tip I can think of is Developing a pourpse also helps. I believe in Jesus Christ and attend church regularly. That helps me a lot.I have started to do a lot of volantary help through the church also. My neighbour started growing organic vegetables garden in her retirement and she is very happy. I am also thinking to start a small vegetable garden. When we find a pourpse we can enjoy we might not feel lonely.

Ummm...dont know what world you are living in, but other people don't want to be bothered. When you are alone and retired, you are on your own. Being married, you have no idea what living the single life is. I am not trying to be rude but after the pandemic, many families fell apart. I don't want to be given false hope. People don't want to be bothered and that's the reality.
