Single Sided Hearing Loss - CROS & Other Options

I notice the interviewer is using AirPods. Do these work for single sided deafness?

If you have almost normal hearing in one ear (41yo Meniers), would you just use 1? Unfortunately, a lot of the perks of the newest models seem to only work properly with two aids. Is there any advantage to wearing say Phonak Sphere in one only? OR, wearing a second in a normal hearing ear? Hardly any info out there!! TIA

Hi Amy you are right that most models are designed to work together as a team. That said if you’re hearing is really close to normal on one side, you could certainly try wearing just one. You might not get every bell and whistle out of the functionality, but you might find the experiences more comfortable.

Is there any delay of sound with a CROS? I would like the sound to transfer at the same time that my good ear is hearing it.

A quality device should handle the sound in real time without perceptible delay!

Why can’t a choclear implant ‘transmittal’ device be worn as like a lapel pin or something instead of Magnetes on to the head?
