While the mechanics are complex to explain, I think people would learn well by watching you make a dozen casts at the end of the video without even speaking. People can absorb a physical lesson better with a repetitive silent demo. This has worked well for me to teach people to ski difficult situations.

Yes, absolutely, no need to work hard. Casting, especially spey casting should be easy and non-fatiguing. Andrew

Great video Andrew, very informative! Could you comment on when a single spey (for change of direction) might be more appropriate than a snap-T cast? I consider myself a beginner but I have found there may be a larger margin for error using the single spey (more angles to worry about) as compared to the snap-T.

Great video. Do you suggest a person learns on a standard skagit length such as a Rio Skagit Max or a longer skagit length such as the Rio Skagit Max Long for a 13'6"?

What length is your fly rod. Also, what is the length of the red shooting head attached to shooting line. What is the weight of fly line.

Hi John, If I remember correct, in this video I was using a Rio Uni Spey which was about a 52' head @ 7/8 weight. The line was finished off with a 14' poly leader and about 6 feet of tippet (3 feet of 15 and 3 feet of 12#). The rod was 14'3" in length.

Most people use to much force and too poor technique. If you do it right, you can cast 15 hours without pain, seven days in a row.
