I really missed this voice, lol! My first few days were frantic, trying to figure out reading train routes and queues. But on my 6th day, I can already understand the PA announcements, and I don't even speak Japanese at all! You just develop this instinct, then it goes away once your vacation ends. I really miss traveling in Japan :)

Thank you~! More Information: In-car announcements in Shinkansen trains are only used for bullet trains and some Limited Express service trains. Commuter trains, trams, underground trains, and other almost local trains have simplified announcements and little contents.

Just came back from Japan for the first time and I miss this. The little jingle in the beginning kept bothering cause it sounded familiar and I finally realized it was Tokio’s Ambitious Japan song. Heard it back in 2003 and never realized it was for the Shinkansen.

Wait, the English announcer has an Australian accent. Why do I remember it being British?
@TheActualDP3 жыл бұрын
mAnDeLa EfFeCt ok I think I just didn't notice. A bit embarrassing since I'm Australian. I suppose it's the refined accent which is pretty damn uncommon.

The "voice of the Shinkansen" is Donna Burke, and this video might explain why you might remember a British accent: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jp27kGuJmdiKaZI

Awesome video! I just came back from Japan and I missed this! One thing I did not understand is why after the pre-recorded announcement played the conductor needed to repeat the same thing over again. This happens all the time on local JR trains as well. Any reason to this?
