Hey Trout , Just came across your video crossing to the Bahamas . I enjoyed it and thanks for sharing . You could spend the rest on life just exploring that whole area with 825 islands . If we cross wakes someday I will say Hello . Skipper Robert North Star

I’m new to sailing about a year ago I bought a 22 foot. It’s a 1984 Hunter sailboat and I’ve been working on her in my backyard sitting on the trailer room dying to get out there go sailing never sailed before always on powerboats but I love sailboats and one day I’m gonna make a trip to the Bahamas, how long did it take you to cross in your boat? How many hours I love watching your videos it’s awesome. I can’t wait till I get out there. Maybe will meet up one day. The name of my boats called the little rose

Nice man! I hadn’t sailed either before buying Song Of Wind. I think the trip was right around 13 hours from Rodriguez Key (Tavernier FL) to Bimini. This past season on my Cape Dory 33 it was I think 35 hours from Marathon to Bimini but with a headwind most of the way

Love it. Can we go provision shopping sometime? Silly me I have been buying the wrong stuff. Need chocolate chips, Fritos and Cheetos for a proper diet. I really enjoy your videos. You a good, humble sailor.

Your first video? Cruising solo to Bahamas, dolphins already! Amazing man, wish you good winds!

Thanks for the support! It was a great first passage 🤘🏻 I don’t think I’ve seen any more dolphins so it was really cool to be guided in by them that first day!

I love your videos. I really want to learn how to sail. Could you upload some instructional videos? How do you anchor? How do you eat? How do you go to the bathroom?
@SailinWithTrout Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! I’m constantly learning while I’m out here. At some point I might make some instructional videos but right now I’m too busy exploring the Bahamas! Maybe when I get stuck somewhere for hurricane season I’ll make some. I’ll try to include more bits that show what I’m doing and talk through what I’m doing more 👍 eventually I’ll have a camera that mounts but for now I have to deal with my phone falling over while I’m trying to record which makes a lot of footage unusable 😂

Bianca 27, a danish longeeler, safe strong pocket ocean boat. A young swedish woman sailed, almost singlehanded, round the world with Bianca 27, rounded South America. I got the book of her sailing, it was very well written and very inspiring. The sailors name is Milo, a swedish nurse, who later had built a aluminiun sailing boat, her dreamboat.

What size and kind of boat did you have the trip in? I’m dreaming of doing this trip in the future
@SailinWithTrout8 ай бұрын
She’s a Bianca 27. An old Danish boat. Great little boat!
Solar: 2x50watt renogy Battery: 2x100ah Lithium Water: I didn’t use the tanks, I had gallon jugs stashed all over. I think I brought around 30 gallons. Displacement & draft: I didn’t have her loaded down too much so I’d say sailboat data is pretty accurate

@@SailinWithTrout I daysail 26ft water ballast at 46° N latitude. I looked up Nassau, 25° N latitude so I'm sure you get at least 25% more sun than I do. Being a cruiser, if you need more solar, my 50W thinfilm just forward of the mast is doing great. I use an SAE plug through the cabin top similar to mast light and coax connections at the base of the mast. My panel is tied down to existing hardware around the area. No dedicated deck mount fasteners. A favorite brand is SunPower. 100W is a tight fit for walking past to the bow. 100W might get enough more shade with sail up that it isn't worth it. Edit: watch out for feed direction of cables out of junction box. That's another reason the 50W can fit better than the 100W.

Love it! Great video! I really enjoy your vibe. I’m on a 2-year plan to buy my next tiny pocket cruiser and get back out there, but it will be my first time cruising as a single-hander. Thanks for the inspiration!
@SailinWithTrout Жыл бұрын
You’ll love singlehanding! I can’t speak on cruising with crew though 🤷🏻 there just something special about you, your boat, and the sea. And when you get to port you get to meet so many amazing people because you’re actively seeking social interactions after awhile 😂

@@SailinWithTrout the people is one of the best parts of the lifestyle. Have you heard that song “Cool Change” by Little River Band? It’s a ballad from and for the heart of a solo sailor. (For all sailors afflicted with this madness, really.) If you haven’t heard it yet, look it up on KZbin and prepare yourself for the waves of goosebumps!!!

Congrats Eitan, So many sailors have Thalassophobia that they can not leave the usa coast. I am so proud of you for sailing across the gulf with so little experience sailing. Individuals that are scared let their fears steal the life enrichment experiences. Jim Rodgers Thumbs up all the way.

Congrats on your successful crossing! Hopefully I am not too far behind you. Currently in Jacksonville beach, Florida, preparing my cape dory 30 ketch. I see you got a CD33! What a great choice. From experience, the 33 feels like 50% larger than the cd30. You’re going to be in heaven.
