Metrolink MP36 is finally in service!

1/8/09 - at Union Station, Metrolink train #408 with MP36(890) & 891 was on 708.

Yeah, that was pretty bad ass with the two new MP36's departing LAUPT at exactly the same time from just a few tracks over from each other. Reminded me of a model RR layout where a mirror is intentionally placed next to yard tracks to give the illusion of it being twice as big / wide!

Have you seen how bad the genesis preforms? Every long distance train in Amtrak West has dealt w/ Genesis breakdowns from day 1. The Southwest Chief is the worst. If the train is slowed below 10mph on Raton, they have to stop for 5min to cool the traction motors. Plus, the electrostatic inverter robs HP, fuel, & longevity (which killed the F40). P42s have to be at Run 6 for HEP. These MP36's (made from EMD parts; a +) use a separate engine for HEP. Plus, MPI will get over any teething problems.

Were those sounder cars or ACE cars on the train at the end, because i think Metrolink hasnt returned some of our crap yet we got the 901 and one set of cars back i know of wich metrolink happily changed the 901's horn to a P-2

Andy Green The F59's will be replaced with the F125's. The MP36 was just an addition to the fleet.

these things are trash!! they are too loud and they rock the hell outta you. were all gonna be cripple b4 we retire running these things. the visability is bad also. theres so many reasons why we never should have bought them.
