I noticed that this stepmum never says anything nice about Takoda when the detective asks her to talk about him. Normally, a parent (and she was in the role of one) would have a lot to say about their child, no matter the behavioural problems the child reportedly had. She'd be talking about his likes, his hobbies, the sports he played or liked, the toys he loved... the funny things he'd say. But no, the first thing this woman mentions is how dad was in a custody battle and then describing how difficult Takoda was for her and her partner. He would have had a personality completely separate from his bad behaviour. Not once was any of this mentioned. She could have just said that he was intelligent even despite his difficulties with school, but there was none of that. Even in death, this woman felt the need to put him down.

I still think about this case, it’s one of the darkest and most depraved I have ever encountered. Poor poor Takoda, trapped in a house of horrors with 3 monsters, he was doomed.

Besides the obvious it's kinda amazing how this woman seems to know know about any of the goings-on around her. No clue what her fiance's mother is up to, no idea who his friends are, but has been with him 8 years. Already paints a strange picture before you even get into the issues with the children.

She starts off saying she was out running errands and when she got back police were everywhere and al said the kid was unresponsive and he had to call the ambulance... and then says her errands were going to the dollar store around the corner to grab him a drink..... so maaaaybe 10 minutes to do that? Ok.. her whole demeanor screams guilty from the starts. That sound of shame in her voice

A high school graduate teaching a child at home should be against the law. People think they know more than they do, and high school education is a bare minimum to function in this society. So many red flags. This child died because of so many failures.

A big problem with home schooling is that only the parents have to attend meetings with officials, not their kids. Any child being home schooled should by law be required to meet with officials at least 3 - 4 times a year to ensure they're not being kept home as a form of abuse or to hide abuse.
@theshadowfax2396 күн бұрын
I agree. I think homeschooled children should be required to get a yearly physical as well.

They fight for custody of these children they have no intention of taking care of. We need to find a way to monitor these homeschooled children. This cannot keep happening.

I agree, it's horrendous and despicable that it persists. They want the money the disabled child brings in probably.

I question whether home schooling is about helping children or an excuse for isolation and bullying by parents. There are some children that benefit from homeschooling but it is getting questionable.
@greydovegardens768810 ай бұрын
I would suggest having the state enact laws where homeschool children are registered with the state and monitored (annual required checkups with a pediatrician, testing, etc). As a homeschooling mom, I wouldn't have a problem with that. However, I am certain that abusers would not comply and move from state to state to avoid detection. Even if there were laws against homeschooling, there still would be these sickos that hold children captive and isolated in their homes. My children went on to college. One got her degree in Architecture and the other one is a senior majoring in piano performance. Homeschooling doesn't necessarily mean being undereducated or unsocialized.
@tamarinbush661310 ай бұрын
I hate the idea of homeschooling. My ex sister in law homeschooled my nephew and surprise he couldn’t read or write when he was 12. Seriously how did no one see? And she left Alaska where they were living to WV, but obviously she never registered him and still somehow didn’t lose custody of him.

You guys sound super uninformed and ignorant. And shame on you “greydovegardens” for being a homeschooling part and letting rare cases like this to cause you to think the government is the best entity to control how parents teach their children.
