This song came out when I met my husband Gareth in 1986 - it was played everywhere. He was so macho working in construction at the time & 9 yrs younger than me ! We were together for 34 yrs until I lost him to cancer in2020 at 58 yrs old. This song takes me right back there to that time. I love you Gar & I miss you love.

For those who might be interested, I directed this video - on a shoe-string - in my London flat... It used to be on my channel but, alas, SME have blocked it world-wide... Great track, a fun day's shooting - and without this video, which Simon got screened on Saturday morning kids' tv - it would probably have not been a hit... it was for it's third release that we made the video...

I used to read Record Mirror back around then and it included a hi-NRG chart that basically listed the tunes that were big on the London gay scene, and it also had a Scottish dance chart. We seemed to have this tune and play it in the club's circuit for ages before it became a hit, it seemed like a year on demo before everyone was asking for it, cruising was the other we use to run side by side still class today.

I had been to Shakes nightclub in Hamilton, New Zealand once - after a night at poly tech ... it was a funny night cos the DJ was a hard out heavy rocker and he had really long blonde hair and he was shaking his head around to the rock music and his hair was Swishing and swooping from one side to the other ... looked like Guns and Roses or Van Halen or something ... but it did look odd when he did the same thing whilst playing 'So Macho' by Sinitta !!!
