I hope it's the latter.
@RafCole2 ай бұрын
Feels similar like Federer at that age. He would also focus on the highest events and was able to win GS at that age in 2017 / 2018. On the other hand, there's no turning back the clock. The older he gets, the younger the opponents become. Sinnner/Alcaraz have shown the consistency this year, but what new young talent will rise up next year? If the knee holds on, he's got 2-3 good years left in him. After that, who knows... physically maybe but what about mentally. Maybe his motivations will lie elsewhere...

Wertheim's take is so contradictory compared to how journalists acted with Roger over the years. From the time Roger turned 29 they started asking when he was going to retire. He got injured - they told him to hang it up. Yet with Novak, "Oh, this is normal as you age..." I still remember the time Novak's father bitched about Roger still playing at 30 and said he should retire and let other guys, ie, Novak, have the spotlight and that Novak would never still be playing at 30. Yet here Novak is at 37 not going quietly into the good night. It's also funny to hear Wertheim talk about how gracious Novak is in defeat...and yet his peers have never voted to give him the Edberg Sportsmanship Award. It's easy to be "gracious" at 37 knowing your best years are behind you. Surely Andy is sitting there listening to this crap and remembering how ungracious Novak was IN VICTORY after their US Open match. This revisionist history painting Novak as the most gracious loser ever is pretty darned lame.
@howtowithd67172 ай бұрын
I can't say about Roger and his aging but Novak is the most gracious in lose. He does not grimace, or make any face when he stands with the loser trophy. The comparison with Andy Roddick is idotic. Andy ridiculed Novak before their match in US Open and Novak just took the revenge.
@yanair20912 ай бұрын
Novak was gracious in defeat from the get go, not at 37. He also had a talk with Andy Roddick after that match and they had good relationship since. Nothing Roddick says here is "revisionist history".
@jollymolly25212 ай бұрын
@@howtowithd6717 Andy didn't "ridicule" Novak before their match. He made a joke. The fact that Novak then got all up in his feels is pretty darned ironic since Novak spent that entire tournament doing impressions of the other players - which ticked off some of those players he "ridiculed." And yes, Novak has been gracious in defeat, but he's also broken rackets and had matches forfeited for his behavior WHILE he was losing the matches. See: 2020 US Open when he accidentally hit the lineswoman when he got mad and wacked a ball. He then didn't have the decency to do the press conference and left the tournament virtually through the back door. Meanwhile he issues a statement saying he apologized to the lineswoman. How "gracious" was that behavior while losing? Don't get me wrong - I actually mostly like Novak, but he can be and has been a butthead for a very long time and Wertheim's revisionist history of that is nonsense.

No, and there is a simple reason for that. WADA does not argue with ITIA final conclusions that there was no doping whatsoever (= JS did not enhanced his performances), WADA believes JS should have been even more accurate in controlling what his team was doing then he did and so want him to be punished more then he has been already (points and money prize of Indian Wells), because they want to pinpoint that the player must take full responsibility of everything (!) done by his/her staff. = JS should have asked more then once (he did it) about that injury and how it was cured or possibly personally check in his staff belonging and luggage...
