AGH!! Just watching it again makes me want to fight foe what I truly love and to achieve my goal no matter what, even if it brings me to my knees and kills me, just like what Utena did for Himemiya. UGHH! I so badly want to relieve it, but I don't want to go through the emotional roller coaster known as "The Feels'.....The feels man...THEY ARE REEAAL!!! And they are coming in hot...oh no!*cries emotionally*......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................But anyway, GREAT VIDEO lad!! It certainly reminded me of the unimaginable and unbreakable bond that they had; that everlasting connection that wouldn't be brought to it's knees despite the obstacles that were surely known as Lust, Greed, Anger, Vengeance, and most certainly Manipulation. The way Utena never gave up on Himemiya despite encountering such an atrocious and astonishing truth. How she always fought for the one she truly loved and to achieve her true wish to the very end which was having Himemiya being set free without having any sort of objection to it. How Himemiya really did had (have) feelings for Utena but was many times wave off as a nuisance due to the type of manipulation that was given to her. The type that made her lock her true emotions inside until she broke free, being finally brought to her senses and awakening her true intentions. You did an amazing job because even if I hadn't watched this or any anime whatsoever, it definitely makes me want to take a chance and watch. Why? The reason is because this video is very interesting and far-fetched; It has a very appealing feeling to it. Let's began with the song; the song is very beautiful and it captures the exact feelings and emotions between Himemiya and Utena. Basically the whole damn story is summarized by this particular song. It has a very soft demeanor that it builds a nice and strong momentum in which it contrast perfectly to the passionate and powerful emotion filled images. I tends to make your chest tighten with emotion because you can feel the passion that radiates from this video. This is paintmaci reporting at 1:27 A.M Pacific Time, fare-well.

I really enjoyed this video. I saw it at Anime Boston this weekend as a finalist in another category. I wasn't the only one-many other editors were touched by your work. And as a personal fan of Utena it's great to see it still being used and innovated on. Nice job. :)

Thanks! Just getting around to respond to some of the comments on my video, and I wanted to say that I really like the videos on your channel as well, and your overall editing style in general. I especially like your "Stay Young" FLCL amv, which, oddly enough, was one of the videos that I drew inspiration from (in terms of style, timing, etc.) while making this amv.

Saw this at Anime Boston. It's phenomenal, and Utena is my favorite anime, but this would have been better suited for the Romance category; it would have been the strongest entry by far under that theme. Under Drama, I didn't feel it was the strongest contender, so I had to vote for something else. :c
@CrimsonFayth10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. With regard to the category, I was debating exactly what to enter it as before submitting it. I felt that the more serious/emotional tone I was trying to evoke in the video made it suitable for the drama category. However, in retrospect I would agree that it is probably better classified as romance. Also, all the other videos in the drama category were amazing, so I can definitely see why you voted for any of the other ones.

I saw this at Anime Boston. It was such a good video! Even though I had never seen this series and didn't know fully what was going on, I still found myself caring for the characters through your video. Excellent job in this :) Were you nervous when submitting it? I plan to submit a video for next year and am getting pretty nervous about it
@CrimsonFayth10 жыл бұрын
Ya I was pretty nervous about submitting it, since this was my first time entering an AMV contest. I wasn't really sure how well my video would be received, and whether I made it well enough that it would make an emotional connection with the audience. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Overall I would say the whole editing/submission process, though a little stressful, was very enjoyable and a great learning experience. Good luck on your video for next year's convention.
@Dragonrider122710 жыл бұрын
***** This is going to be my first AMV contest too. thank You :) Did you find yourself constantly looking at the video over and over, sometimes constantly making changes, or just feeling frustrated because you don't feel like the message or feeling you want to convey isn't coming across? Or fearing you'll just confuse everyone that hasn't seen the anime? I'm using an anime that doesn't get a lot of attention so that's the feeling I'm getting. Thanks again for the encouraging words :)

***** First AMV? Well then congrats. Also, giving you a heads up for a surprise next week.
@CrimsonFayth10 жыл бұрын
Dragonrider1227 Ya I experienced many of the same challenges that you described (constantly making minor changes to my video, difficulty telling a coherent story, etc.) My general advice would be to have a clear focus to your video, and a consistent tone. Especially for drama or romance videos, I believe that an amv should strive to tell a story. In my case, I tried to focus on the relationship between Utena and Anthy, the two main characters of the anime I chose. Even though most people probably haven't seen the series, I tried to structure it in a way that the general idea/feeling of this relationship came across. Many of my favorite amvs are in fact from series I've never seen, so this evidently can be done. Once you finish you video, you could also always ask for some opinions on it, such as from the Opinion Exchange section of the animemusicvideos.org forum. Although I didn't do this, in retrospect it definitely seems like it would be a helpful source of feedback.
