Hello Dr. I appreciate you taking the time to educate us. I having been delaying sinus surgery from extreme fear. this is what they want to do. Right total ethmoidectomy with sphenoidotomy with removal of tissue from the sphenoid sinus; Right frontal sinusotomy; Stereotactic computer-assisted (navigational) guidance; Septoplasty; and Right maxillary antrostomy with removal of tissue from sinus! I have had severe balance, disequilibrium, vertigo, for many years that have disabled me. They state my sphenoid is completely opacified and the carotid artery one has dehiscence. I am SO AFRAID this is going to worsen my vestibular disorder. I am also a Type 2 diabetic allergic to Aspergillus Fumigates, I am going for my 4th opinion because 2 of the surgeons just want to go straight to my sphenoid and open it up. I also developed eyebrow bone swelling on the right that is so painful Any have the above surgery done, I would appreciate you experiences.

IT feels hopeless. I visited dotros in Syria, the Netherlads and India. It seem that there is no solution. I have even had a surgery in the Netherlands and it worked for some time and then got nose gradually blocked again. I have sever allergy to pollen and I have deviated septum. the ENT doctor in India looked at my CT scan and suggested that I undergo a surgery but he didn't promise that it will be solved even after the surgery.

I had a private CT scan done but my sinuses were clear (apart from a maxillary mucosal cyst) - however for the past 3 years I can only get about 5 hours sleep before I wake up each morning with a headache & facial pain which I believe is likely due to swelling & inflammation of my nasal cavity & sinuses which mostly occurs when I lie down while sleeping (e.g. in the morning when I wake up I ocasionally feel a "popping" in my face suggesting my sinuses are blocked )- nasal rinses & a steriod spray have helped to some degree but not enough - could something like balloon sinuplasty help me or is that only for when you your sinuses are full of pus & unable to drain ?

@@SinusDoctor1 thanks very much for replying - I do have a deviated septum & my left nostril is usually partially blocked although I do not seem to have any significant issue breathing through my nose even when my symptoms flare up in the morning so not sure if surgery on my turbinates or septum would help much - I am in the UK so it is very hard to see an ENT using our national health service as the waiting lists are now very long (possibly years) - when I do see an ENT I will request a sleep study likle you mentioned - I may even see if I can pay for one myself privately like I did with my CT scan

Im suffering from left side facial pain. its like electric shock. it comes again and again after few months and leaves after a very long period of time even months.. I cannot eat drink properly. History: had rhinoseptoplasty in 2016. Symptoms: unilateral pain/pressure under left cheekbone; no discharge, lasting several days, recurs every few months. Chronically obstructed left sinus; reduced airflow. Also, chronic TMD and bruxism. No amount of nasal corticosteroid sprays, daily saline rinses, etc. prevent recurrence, provide symptom relief nor address the underlying anatomic issues. Oxymetazoline is the only decongestant that works to provide temporary relief of congestion, but cannot use for more than a day or two. It does nothing to relieve pain/pressure. CT just came back. Impression: Mucosal opacification of the near-complete opacification of the left maxillary sinus. Opacification of the left ostiomeatal unit. Deviation of the nasal septum to the right. Septo revision with endoscopic uncinectomy?

Hi, Hope you got your allergy skin prick test done and avoiding allergen exposure. Maintain an allergy diary and not down the timing of symptoms, season, preceding exposure and consumption. You will recognise a pattern. Try avoiding them. Go for regular 3 month endoscopy check of your nose and sinuses from your operating surgeon.
