i just married to a an ex-US Military Soldier in almost a year and living here in California now,,i love to cook and i used to sell foods in the philippines,and icook for my in-laws and let them tried some of our filipino delicacy and they loved it,..i learned a lot by watching Panlasang Pinoy,,at sa mga nagda judge wala lang kayong magawa at inggit lang kayo sa kanya,salamat sa kanya dahil libre lahat halos ng recipe....good job!!

btw! quick tip! after the filling is done, put the filling in the fridge! let it cool and let the sauce rest so it will have a like a jelly consistency. so that when u put the filling into the dough it will not run or water. enclose the dough and cut a square piece of paper and let the siopao rest there ( u know what i mean here, it has a paper at the bottom of the siopao hehe "balat ng siopao") please read my comment here and im sure it will help u and make a good siopao..its my family recipe

keith18ad, steaming it longer will make the dough softer but the texture will be slumpy because of too much water absorbed while cooking it with lesser time will not allow enough water in the dough and will prevent rising. Just cook it for 15 minutes and make sure that the dough is soft enough before cooking. Adding shortening or little water while kneading can help the dough be softer.

I've been away from my parents for 3years for university... Ang alm ok LNG Luton eh adobo,nilaga, sinigang and fried foods... Xempre I had to cook for myself n and thanks to panlasang pinoy I can now cook delicious pinoy foods...it's so good coz Khit an malayo din ako as pinas I can still eat Filipino foods that I love... Keep up the great recipes! ^^,)

I made this and it was so good! We finished it in a day! Except for the filling my dad made pork adobo, it stll tasted good.

nagtry me magluto now meryenda ng mga kids ko kaso di sya umalsa pero masarap ang ok din nmn naubos ng mga kids ko at nagustuhan din nila..

tip: freeze first the filling mixture in a tray. divide equally into desired size for uniform amount of filling and for easy to fill the dough. :)

salamayt kuya.. dine sa milano ang daming nagtitinda ng siopao pero kahit itanonbg mo sa kanila kung paano ang pag gawa di nila sinasabi.. salamat at natuto ako sa pag gawa nito..

Except for the loud background music, will u people stop criticizing this chef? His English is NOT very bad that u have to complain about it! & his accent is ok! Pinóy accent naman yun; what's wrong with it? Would u rather hear him speak in a foreign accent (like American or Chinese accent) while he uses the Tagalog language?!? Remember that his videos are NOT about grammar or phonetics!

If you replace the shortening with margarin or butter, the taste will be different (it will taste like bread). Try using lard instead.

Lard Shortening po yun. Isang uri ng oil na gawa sa taba ng baboy. You can search this one 'Crisco', brand.
