I served as a crew chief of a uh-1 huey with the 6th air calvery. This brings back some memories. Wings up gentlemen, take them flying. 😊

Flew these in Borneo and Malaysia for four years back in the 60's a great little chopper mainly used as cas-I-vac (casualty evacuation) and observer platform. Not very fast but good fun to fly. Tug

@tugwilson206 This was mainly on straight lift off out of close clearings, the reason was mainly due to the thin air in this tropic region, many the time the observer had to leg it out to an area where we could lift at a more gradual climb. Tug

@pinz2022 It was possible to get into close cover but very risky. the other thing about the Sioux was it's safety factor, I had two engine off situations and walked away from both without too much damage. Not something you do for fun but it is nimble and recoverable in these events. The one problem we had very often was landing two up pilot & observer to find we did not have enough power to climb back out.
