I'll be honest here. While the rankings of frozen pizzas and pasta sauces are interesting, I watch for the sweet relationship between James and Jim. Growing up without a father, I just love watching the two interact. You're all three very lucky to be your family.

I'm sorry you didn't have a father figure as a kid. That must have been rough. I agree, I love seeing the lovely family dynamic on this channel. I see a lot of parents dismiss their children because they're "just kids," but not Jim and Tara! They value their son's opinions.

There's a reason tests are done blind - to prevent bias (from things like name recognition). When DiGiorno's was mentioned, James had the bias with KZbinr's eating it. That will influence your opinion on it. Next time, try giving them numbers (and a separate person knows what they are) and do a reveal at the end. This keeps it all about the taste!

As a former employee of Nestle, I used to deliver some of these frozen pizzas to grocery stores and stock the shelves. Of the pizzas you tried; CPK, Digiorno, and Tombstone are all Nestle products. They also do Jack's pizza, that is known in the midwest. The Red Baron is owned by Schwan's and they also do Freschetta and Tony's Pizza. Each pizza brand, from the two companies, are considered to be on different tiers that compete with each other. Not sure what kind of oven you all used to cook these, but I know for sure that the Nestle ones taste drastically better when cooked in a pizza oven!

@@wjack4728 Funny enough, that seems to be the most contentious thing with pizza lovers; doughiness. People that really love a classic NY slice want that slice thin and crispy, but not too thin. Thank you three for the frozen pizza review. I've only tried a few of these brands but never the Trader Joe's one which is right down the street from my house, so I'll give it a try. Also, my husband bought the Paul Newman's pepperoni pizza a while back and he said it was pretty good. I'm looking forward to making your recipe for Grandma's pizza :) I really enjoyed watching your pizza from scratch videos and after watching them, purchased the Lloyd's pan that you mentioned. I love that pan and even use it to roast vegetables, etc. Such a nice quality. Thank you.

Love the idea of a "taste test battle". I might actually get my picky eaters to eat something new. 😂 I grew up on Tombstone and Red Baron and probably would enjoy them if I tried them now. I don't like Digiorno, and neither do my kiddos. They like the advertising though. We go to the frozen pizza section, and they're all bout Digiorno, but once cooked up, they won't finish it. I'll give Good and Gather a try at some point, though. I like Amy's frozen foods a lot, but I haven't purchased them since I found out the employees have bad working conditions. You'd think with the cost of it, some of that would go toward the employees' wages and/or working conditions, but I guess not. For me, frozen pizza is difficult. I rarely buy it. We have a great pizza place nearby that costs three times as much as most of these frozen pizzas, but you get way more and much better quality. I can usually place an order and go pick it up in less time than it would take my oven to pre-heat. I also know that I'm supporting local with a purchase there.

Red Baron is always a great choice. Used to buy DiGiorno when my kids were little, but the brand is now one of the more expensive ones. I’d have done this as a blind taste test to remove possible brand bias and had the same toppings on each pizza. You should try Aldi’s pizza..can’t recall the brand. No matter what frozen pizza I eat, I always jazz it up a bit….some more cheese, ham or prosciutto, fresh slices of hot peppers….

When I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin, Tombstone was THE pizza. They were actually made in a little town in Northern Wisconsin called Medford. At some point Kraft bought them out and really cheapened the product. Today, the original family that made Tombstone is back and making pizza under the name Pep's. I'm not a frozen pizza connoisseur, but that's my go to because of the history, and it is is head and shoulders better than Tombstone today.

An herb garden can seriously upgrade all these pizzas and they are very easy to grow. Right now I have chives, parsley, arugula, fennel, garlic chives, rosemary, oregano, thyme, and mint. So by far…..the best frozen pizza I’ve ever eaten is “Motor City Pizza Co.” Wall Mart Carry’s it. As well as several other grocers. Its a deep dish and It’s really good. Right down to the olive oil on the crust. You tube it! And be sure to give it a try!

Miami used to have a couple of excellent places (after we moved from NY/NJ). They had Vito's, Mario the Baker's, and Cozzoli's. Cozzoli's was more a fast food pizza but it didn't not taste so! Vito's had amazing pizza and also veal parm, and chicken/eggplant parm! They were one of the few places that cooked with ricotta. I had a place in Knoxville that I liked too, but I cannot remember the name.

This seems interesting. Way back when I was in school (about 20 years ago now) i used to get Freschetta's rising crust pizzas. They were normally $6-7 each but they would go on special every once in awhile for 2 or 3 for $10. They were honestly better than most of the cheaper pizzerias at the time. No idea if they've maintained that over the years, though.

I appreciated the opinions for the frozen pizza tastings. Depending where one lives you may not have access to other brands, and the ones these people did. Most popular stores have their own take and bake pizzas. Aldi's has Mama Cozies frozen pizza. There is Home Run Inn frozen pizza as well as other brands in the frozen section at the big grocery stores. I suppose you could also do common delivery pizza tastings too.
