It's incredible how after hours of playing this game, and having played all the prequels, most of the time he still patiently waits for the monsters to reach his main line of defense before properly shooting them himself

@knitterknerd3 жыл бұрын
I haven't played this game, so I don't really understand this. If you funnel them all to the same place, then you can use fewer traps (and less money) to kill them, can't you? You have less area to cover. Is the game just balanced in a way that this isn't reasonable? I though redirecting enemies was kind of standard for tower defense.
@Bro-ws1xf3 жыл бұрын
@@knitterknerd i could be wrong but I think the barricades cost a lot more than the simple traps so blocking off whole areas costs a huge amount of money. It could still be a good investment I dont know much about this game
@JohnFWitt3 жыл бұрын
@@knitterknerd Your intuition is correct, and that's exactly what barricades are for. But if you look at the first map, all of the enemies have to cross the bridge and go down a long hallway to get to the rift. The level itself is already funneling them all to the same place, so it makes more sense to just place traps. Traps take time to reset after they go off, so when you make a bunch of enemies run over a single trap, it goes off once and then stays dormant for a few seconds while other enemies run over it without getting hurt. Whereas if you just put four traps side by side on that bridge, they'd be going off 4x as often and doing more damage to the orcs. For the same reason, you'd also do more damage if you lined the hallway with arrow traps on either side. Barricades are also expensive, so on average you can place 3 or 4 traps for the cost of 1 or 2 barricades. On the other levels in this episode, Sips uses the barricades in a way that makes more sense, because the enemies would be scattered all around the map otherwise.
@NicolasdeFontenay3 жыл бұрын
@@knitterknerd You want to redirect them if there are 2 paths so you can focus on one point. But once they are redirected and going through a 3-4 square choke, you want to just use traps so you have as many traps as possible killing rather than barricades which just lets them go by through one point and kill 1/3 of what you could be doing.

Okay, I haven't played this game, but why wouldn't the flip traps be great? Either you use them to send them off a bridge or something and kill them instantly, or you can flip them backwards to go back through traps they've already been through and get extra damage out of them, right? Those sound good to me! I can see telling Sips he isn't using them "right," but I'm really confused why people would say they just aren't good at all.
@jgcompton3 жыл бұрын
Because the more different traps you can affect an orc with at the same time the higher score you get. That’s what triggers a combo. If you simply launch a orc in to lava you lose out on getting a combo. The flip traps can be used in combos but there is so many alternatives that are far and away better. They are super fun to watch though.
@henrikfitch40173 жыл бұрын
Also they are more than useless against big enemies, meaning if a big enemy is first in a large group they will set off all the flip traps and nothing will happen to him. Also also they are expensive, also also also no combo
@andrewlagno94823 жыл бұрын
tldr: flip traps are good, people were saying that the way sips was using them was bad. using flip traps to send people back through traps they previously went through is usually an inefficient use of tile space and money because the rate of death (due to the flip traps) is hindered by both the recharge rate of the flip traps and the recharge rate of the other traps that they went through, whereas if you use the flip traps to send people to throw orcs off the ledge or some other trap, the sole hindrance to the rate of death is the recharge rate of the trap in question. if there is no abyss you can throw orcs into and you have some theoretical broken trap that has a very high kill rate/low recharge time and costs a lot, then it might be worth using flip traps to send orcs through it again but i don't even know if such a trap exists. i'm also not sure if fall damage exists in this. i don't think it does, and sips was mistaking the steves shooting the orcs that land near them for the orcs taking fall damage.

The Dad-stache is coming in so nicely. What a week, Dad has a new baby, we get some quality Terry Time and a crap ton of OMD3? #blessed Also Sips using almost exclusively fire damage trals against enemies that are immune to fire is 👌 classic dick ripping.

@@MaisieSqueak Well, it was a platform exclusive - in that you could only play it through Stadia - but, yes, being a platform exclusive with Stadia is different to being a platform exclusive with a console, as it's exclusive to a cloud service, not to any particular hardware purchase. Like, no-one is wrong here. But some people really don't like cloud gaming services. Really, really don't like it. "Willing to wait years for a wider release" levels of not liking it. Your mileage may vary, but that's what's going on here. Folks waiting for this recent general release to avoid having to use Stadia. Also, this is Sips. Since when has Sips ever kept up with the latest releases? He always just plays games at his own pace, even when they're years old. Doesn't bother him. Even without Stadia being involved, Sips probably would have only gotten around to this now anyway. He's never been big on rushing to play games on the day of their release - and possibly with good reason. As TotalBiscuit once put it: "Buying a game on the day of release is paying the most money for the worst version of the game".
