That's the order I learned about them. In the UK, you learn about world war 2 in year 6, when you're 10 or 11. That's also the year you learn about sex ed. So learning those two things in a short period of time is common

I was in Italy (military brat, I’m American) and I was probably around 7-8 years old. My mother and I were waiting at a bus stop where I got on the bus to go to school and she tells me “(my name), today is the anniversary of 9/11-“ and I cut her off with a very loud yell saying something along the lines of “HURRAY 9/11!!!” because I thought it was a holiday like Christmas or Halloween. She is shocked by this and immediately grabs me and tells me what 9/11 really was.
