Treecapitator + Greatwood Trees = best charcoal farm ever! Run up a line of furnaces and plant a forest of about ten trees and you can generate more charcoal than you'll ever need. I barely bother using anything else.

The Stirling engines are actually very renewable. I set up a farm block to grow trees, and pipe them into electric furnaces, which turned the wood into charcoal, then piped it back into the Stirling engines. Periodically, I have to put new dirt in, and refill the fertilizer, but, I don't generally have to worry about my power situation.

you can power the quarry by electric if you use an energy link. power source connected to energy link- conductive pipes from energy link to quarry. the quarry will go really fast

Use scaffolds to fuel your engines! It takes a steady supply of wood but a set of 16 scaffolds only costs about 1 log and gives 4x as much power as planks would!

A watermelon farm tended by a Minefactory Reloaded harvester with a diamond range upgrade can fully supply two 36HP High Pressure steam furnaces. Direct all the melon slices to Autocrafting tables to make seeds, then send all the seeds to a BioReactor, and pipe the bio-fuel to the furnaces. Then turn the steam into power using the universal energy mod. This makes a crazy amount of power, and i highly recommend it.

You should look into Dartcraft and make a Force Tree farm, run the logs through a squeezer and pump the liquid force into Force Engines. If you set up a milk farm and pump the milk into the engines for a throttle they're as good as industrial steam engines or fuel powered combustion engines but are totally renewable and never explode.
@shaquiquio11 жыл бұрын

A great source of power (low-to-mid tier) is to use a pump in the Nether over one of the larger lava lakes to pump lava to an Ender tank which is connected to another Ender tank in the "Overworld". You can then stockpile this lava in a tank and output it to several Magmatic engines. As long as you leave a chunk loader by the pump in the Nether (and in the overworld if you're going to be very far from your base), you'll have far more than enough power until you can craft end-tier sources.

You should make an extractor as well because if you put rubber or rubber wood in there you will get even more rubber than you would if you smelt it.
@Hugh.Manatee11 жыл бұрын
The Steam Engines are from railcraft. They're pretty efficient, but you need to build a boiler for them. Once you're done with the quarry, you can repurpose the boiler for a Steam Turbine (IC2 electricity) though. Google railcraft steam boiler to see how to set it up.
@AnAngryDutchGamer11 жыл бұрын
Try to get an extractor up and running ASAP, it potentially more than triples your rubber income. It'll give 3 rubber per sticky resin, and you can put rubber wood in it as well to get rubber.

Sjin you were right about the pipes except the last one. If there is only the chest to go in, it will guaranteed go in there unless that chest fills up full

plus I think the kind of rubber wood they got turns to like 8 planks (or it could be the crap that turns to sticks but I think that only is in jungles) and if so 8 planks is worth more power then one coal

blue electric engines are the best and if you use solar or wind to charge the battery boxes it in it self is a total renewable energy source, but be warned, it will make the quarry fly and the 50/50 chance of the the pipes spilling goes to 10/80, lol it will spill more items then the pipes will handle.
@shanet.166511 жыл бұрын
Try the Hobbyist engine.. It is pretty good early on and is very efficient compared to the Sterling. Three or four engines will provide a decent amount of power for Buildcraft and Thermal Expansion machines. You should really get a tree farm planted and create a Charcoal factory and then you will be good for energy.

The rail craft engines are more fuel effecent then the Stirling engine, the coal will last twice as long in the hobby engine but it also requires water.

The loop will help, though, should all the chests get completely full. Stuff will then go round and round inside the pipes, giving them a visual indication that the chests are full - because they'll see loads of stuff filling up the pipes, which makes it obvious that the chests are all full, without having to look inside all the chests to see - and that also buys them plenty of time to empty out the chests to make more room, without anything despawning in the meantime.
@klaxoncow11 жыл бұрын
True, but that's a fairly good ratio, to be honest, considering that solar panels don't need fuel. So, sure, you have to build three of them to match what a coal engine does - but, once you've done that, it'll just work and you never have to worry about fuel ever again. In the short term, there's more upfront cost to get going. But, long term, it's worth it because it gets rid of fuel problems forever thereafter.

What is he talking about at 3:45? The last piece of the pipe connects up with the last chest, meaning that anything going down the pipe will enter the chest (until the chest is full, of course). It would be the same as if you just had a single chest with a pipe feeding into it.

There was actually no need for them to loop the pipes around because at the end there was no junction and only one way for the items to go, which is in to the last chest. The only way for the items to pop out of the pipes is if all the chests are filled up with no space left.

steam boilers require a big boiler that constantly needs water and takes 10 stacks+ of coal to warm up but when they heat up to a couple thousand degrees they don't use much coal and produce lots of power. Magmatic engines require lava that can be pumped from the nether and are more efficient

If that last chest had filled up, then the pipe system would have overflowed though. If they have the junction next to the chest, then it will not overflow; the item will continue. If there is a straight pipe block between the junction and the chest, then it will sort 50/50 and still overflow if it goes to chest.

Quarries take Buildcraft power, so Redstone, Stirling, or Combustion engines. Steam engines are Railcraft which do output Buildcraft power. So the only renewable energy engine is Redstone which is painfully slow or farm Charcoal for Stirling. However, Forestry adds two new engines that output Buildcraft. As Sjin said Biogas Engines can become renewable, and Electrical Engines which are used to convert IndustrialCraft power into Buildcraft. IC comes with Solar Panels.
