7:07 no it wasn't the lava that froze them they did not even freeze they were buried by a pyroclastic flow which hardened over them preserving their last moments.

I love that every time Sips mentions going to the shops he's always buying chocolate bars and ice; I'm just imagining at home he has a fridge freezer, the fridge filled with chocolate and the freezer... well, you know what I'm saying.

They use industrial and lab created diamonds. The finished paste is less than twice the cost of the silver compound. By "oozing" I meant manually putting it on a part (such as between a CPU and a fan) and applying slightly too much, resulting in a slight bit being squeezed out of the sides.

In pompeji the people have been covered in hot ash and died, but the ash made a form of coat and hardened over time while the body inside died and disappeared or at least shrunk. And what we see today is mostly this ash coat/construction.

Shield volcanoes are shallow. Also, volcanic soil is very fertile, and that is why people build near volcanoes. Shield volcanoes also almost continually spew out small amounts of liquid-like lava.

There are shield, cinder cone and strato volcanos. The type is dependent on the type of lava. If it has silicon it it's explosive and if it's full of iron it's runny like Hawaii volcano.

Although I agree with your point, gold isn't the only thing of that color, your trophy is most likely gold plated. The outside layer is actually gold, but only a few atoms (if that) thick.

The kind of Volcanoes in Hawaii like you were talking about are Shield Volcanoes I think. When the lava hardens and cools it creates more volcano, that's why they are so flat and large
@SophisticatedGamer13
@SophisticatedGamer13 11 жыл бұрын
A geography lesson Acomposite volcano occurs on destructive plate boundaries and are usually very tall. the lava in these is thick and acidic and slow moving causing a build up making steep sides. In Hawaii on the other hand, the volcanoes are made on a volcanic hotspot with very runny lava or viscus lava meaning it runs off the slopes causing it to have shallow sides. These are called shield volcanoes. the explosive volcanoes are super-volcanoes like in yellowstone which erupts with1000m3 lava

They use all their wood for building, and expanding the platform, and they're looking for a power source that although takes effort to set up, they don't really need to do anything with after, they would spend the whole series chopping down trees, they could set up a system that automatically took the charcoal from the furnace to the quarry, but as well youd waste alot of the charcoal by burning wood to get charcoal, it seems simpler, but it takes more effort than you originally think
@LegendOfZub
@LegendOfZub 11 жыл бұрын
That would make it quite a bit more appreciated than platinum. The biggest factor separating those two is the way they are marketed and presented. It's also become a tradition to use gold as a major part of jewelry. Even if we found a deposit of gold that caused its projected rarity to be less than that of silver, gold jewelry would probably still be significantly more sought after.

Silver has a relatively long half life, but decays eventually. Gold has been a staple of value for centuries because of that; it sticks around forever. Gold does not oxidize. It only breaks down in a few complex single displacement(?) reactions. That and it beautiful lol. Platinum is too rare...

Yellowstone is a caldera volcano, which means that when it erupts and massive crater (15 miles across) will open up releasing even more lava. This could last for up to three weeks.
@SophisticatedGamer13
@SophisticatedGamer13 11 жыл бұрын
actually, it is a super volcano and when a super volcano erupts , the crater it leaves is called a caldera. but you're right that it could last up to 3 weeks. the lava in the volcano when it does erupt is enough to cover the whole of the usa's surface 2cms deep

Ok, so quick science and history lesson about the eruption in 79AD of Vesuvius. When Vesuvius erupted, there were pillowing clouds of Ash, smoke and rock, which headed downwind (south) and blanketed Pompeii, and made it hard for those in Pompeii to see and breath, and a lot of them died from Asphyxiation. The Ash piled up for about a whole day which left the people in Pompeii, who were dead on the ground, buried in ash, their bodies decomposed over time, leaving a sort of 'cast' to fill in.
@VoidHugger

And in Pompeii a mix of super hot gas and ash going at massive speeds just rolled over the town and the ash covered them. They were instantly killed, and like a mold, the ash kind of froze and bam.

Nobody got frozen at Pompeii it was just the amount of ash covered them so their bodies made a sort of cast in the ash . When the bodies had decayed some Italian Archeologist made like clay casts out of them, so that is why they look frozen.

True, the common consensus back then was that those materials were valuable "because history and tradition said so." But given how the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs managed to figure out that you can tell when the Nile will flood by looking at the stars, it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone in the first ancient "money" civilization got the idea by seeing that water with silver in it doesn't go green from stagnation. They didn't have to understand, just observe and remember.

In Pompeii the people had actually been buried under mud and their bodies were preserved for a long time. Or the ashes that had risen made everybody choke to death and these ashes preserved their dying moments like statues, then it was covered in mud and found later on. I'm not sure which is the correct story because the was another city close by which suffered from the volcano as well, and I'm not sure which story fits.

The people of Pompeii were frozen in time because of how close and how violent the volcano was. The heat and ask made escape impossible and the ash buried them as they died from it

For anyone who is curious about how Pompeii actually happened, the volcano spewed ash then it was burned solid by the lava. People were encased in the ash and then they began to sort of crumble from dehydration and death. The decay set in. This left empty gaps where the people were and we came along later and started filling the holes with stuff to find what the people looked like. It's rather disgusting when you think about it.

actually in pompeii, not many of the citizens were killed by the falling ash and pumice, but the ones that did were coated in layers and layers of it, encasing their bodies. The body then naturally decayed leaving just a shape or empty mold, that Giuseppe Fiorelli filled with plaster to create a cast of the body. This is what see today

Teleportation and Star Trek, Sips mentions it in this video. Told by Michio Kaku in the following video, the story of Sips is actually supported that teleportation is nowadays possible and we have Star Trek to partially thank for it. Or actually 'budget cuts' at Paramount Studios =]. Thumbs up so Sips sees this =].
