As far as I've seen (I'm watching the Scary Game Squad playthrough), the first hour of the game is really the scary part. After the garage part it becomes a lot more like a traditional Resident Evil game.

I've beaten the game 3 times now, all I have left to do is madhouse difficulty with all my new game plus items, it's brutal though, no matter how prepared you are.

Well, I gave up madhouse difficulty after an hour of fighting Mia in the attic, you have to have perfect aim, you miss once or twice, it comes down to an axe vs chainsaw fight when your limited bullets are gone, and spoiler.... chainsaw wins everytime
