I'm absolutely gutted for him. It just goes to show it doesn't matter how incredibly fit and healthy you are cancer knows no boundaries. The one thing about Chris Hoy that is rarely mentioned in the mainstream media. He was also a racing car driver. To go from his illustrious cycling career to racing LMP2 cars at LeMan is an incredible achievement. The man is an utter legend! Love to him and his family!

Agreed. I lost my sister to an aggressive brain cancer. She was only 29 years old. We were just left to get on with it, like all others out there.

Yes you do want to be treated normal as I had no idea that I had prostate cancer and spread to nodes I have just had robotic surgery to remove! I pray has not spread you have to try to take day by day it's hard!

The location of the disease and the sport this extraordinary athlete followed seem tragically linked. It is reported that in the USA long distance truck drivers and even cowboys were susceptible to this particular form of the disease. I saw this sad news on GB News yesterday evening and looked in vain later for a mention on the BBC Sports News online. Sir Chris Hoy deserved the respect of an acknowledgement of his personal announcement by the nation's original national broadcasting entity.

I would suggest bi yearly check at 40 onwards … I was so lucky to have done so caught mine in the nick of time , 8/9 on the Gleason stage . I went private and had it sorted so quickly my consultant told me another 3 months and it would have been metastatic and I would be dead now …..

The question is, has he taken jibby!!!!!!! So many people are developing turbo cancers, all linked to the flu treatment 4 years ago. I don't post this with malice😢😢. I'm in healthcare.
