Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg is a distinctive and divisive figure in British politics. Characterized by his impeccable manners and old-style dress, he is often described as the "Honourable Member for the 18th century". A member of the UK parliament representing North East Somerset, he represents conservative and traditional policies, which has gained him many admirers, and much criticism. But a defining part of his four decades in British politics has been his Catholic faith. He often talks about his faith when debating social and political issues, and talks openly about his belief in orthodox Catholicism. EWTN reporter Colm Flynn traveled to Westminster in London to meet Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg and find out more about how his Catholic faith developed, and how it affects his life and his work.

Dawkins’ “Best Evidence for Evolution” disappears before his eyes. Famous Evangelical atheist Richard Dawkins used to teach that the “best evidence for evolution” was that organisms; which were similar to each other have similar DNA. This is pure supposition and absolute speculation driven by a passion to obliterate God from the equation of life. Richard Dawkins claimed that genetic research proved Darwin’s tree of life; nothing could be further from the truth. These claims were made before we learned more about DNA and RNA and in 2009 he got his book published: “The Greatest Show on Earth” in which he taught that Darwin’s Tree of Life was supported by the pattern of resemblances, that you see when you compare genes. The fossil record does not support Darwin’s Tree of Life, because there is no evidence of transitional fossils in the actual earth’s geology demonstrating evolution. There is no evidence that plants and animals diversified from a Common Ancestor over millions of years, being due to imaginary evolution. In 2009, the same year, New Scientist magazine ran an article with the title: “Why Darwin was wrong about the Tree of Life.” In it, scientists stated that the Tree of Life was “mis-leading” because Darwin’s theory limits and even obscures the study of organisms and their ancestries end of quote. The “best evidence for creation” is the fossil record, finding only fully formed organisms in Cambrian rocks. Our technology has advanced to such a stage that we can now “read” the genes of many different species and it is even clearer now that Dawkins’ “Best Evidence for Evolution” does not exist. Now scientists have sequenced a great number of genomes belonging to different organisms. Casey Luskin, Associated Director of the Center for Science and Culture, wrote for Evolution News, that Dawkins was wrong! Every gene does not deliver approximately the same Tree of Life end of quote. DNA research does not show a Tree of Life. But what is described as “bushes of life” meaning no branching as in Darwin’s Tree of Life, but organisms that reflect the fossil record throughout time with minor variations, these are attributed to kinds within species due to genetic variety until they went extinct. “Genes are dissimilar in their development and unique as they form into the embryos of different organisms. Ernest Haeckel German scientist tried it on; by drawing fraudulent embryos making them look alike, because he loved Darwin’s theory of evolution. At the University of Jena he was convicted of fraud in 1875. When asked why he had lied, he said it is necessary for us to believe in spontaneous generation: that everything made itself by random chance, because the alternative is Creation and that is unthinkable! A lot of people have a similar mind-set today, this is why evolution will not go away as a theory and be buried. It should be disqualified by the “scientific method” today, but there is wide spread indoctrination through the education system with the theory of evolution which should be abandoned, because there is no evidence to support such a theory which has outlived its usefulness. The indoctrination of evolution through the education system is a “back door” to promoting immoral behaviour within the populace. This is the aim and plan of the globalists to bring about chaos, anarchy and confusion, in short lawlessness, whereby they have a legitimate reason to use modern technology to mark and control the masses. It is simple, if you teach students there is no God to answer too, then why bother to behave! Create fear among the populace and they will be happy to except electronic monitoring by those in authority, but first they must create the environment and the people will look to those in authority for a solution: it is called Cause and Effect. The general public need to waken up and smell the coffee as there is a lot of corrupt manipulation going on by the elite billionaires, who are now controlling bank accounts, politics and the education system, where people are taught what to think, not how to think critically. There is a desire to take away your freedom of speech in relation to telling the truth.

I fully agree that to make judgement calls on anyone is complicated. But it is necessary in many circumstances especially when exercising one’s vote for politicians. This is compounded when you are considering complicated characters like Rees Mogg who in many ways comes over as a polite, well mannered and considerate person from a bygone age where manners counted. He has successfully cut through with many people as being an authentic figure in todays age of plastic politicians as he has thrown away the mould. But is this a mask to hide some reactionary views that most of us would find objectionable?As one writer for The Guardian pointed out he is anti-abortion; doesn’t believe in climate-change legislation, votes against any rise in benefits, even for disabled people; supports zero-hours contracts and tuition fees. He supported Trump, although he has since distanced himself. This is pure neocon territory.

Absolutely loved the part where he said he wasn't expecting a question on abortion and wasn't an early morning person... and then just shrugged as he thought this wouldn't be good for the political career but ah well. 🤣 Also I felt spiritually in sync with him when he recognised that all that mattered with his father's passing was that he had been in a great place in terms of his faith (indeed he described it as wonderful!), and that he continued to pray for the holy repose of his soul and have masses said for him... and at the end that he can leave things behind him thanks to the gift of the sacrament of reconciliation. Tá! God-issues come first, our human/economic issues are an infinitely distant second. People need to recognise this and recognise that just because they don't share or necessarily understand his conservative stances or justifications on economic issues, doesn't mean that he is to be dismissed in his views. As Blessed Carlo Acutis would say, we are all born unique but most of us die photocopies. This man certainly lives and will die unique, as God intended, DV.

This man may not be bad, but he did support that Joker, Philanderer, serial adulterer, (a man who bought gold wallpaper while people were struggling to heat their homes etc) BORIS JOHNSON right until the very end, when he was dismissed from office. Plus, he denied the disabled a rise in benefits when they were strugglng , while he himself is a millionaire.

I am a practising ( Cradle ) Catholic I dont dislike him for his religous views as I myself believe and do my best to practice all that the Catholic Church teaches (as do most Catholics ) I just think his support of Boris Johnson is wrong if he means what he says about being Catholic. Also one would think that it would make him more sympathetic towards the poor and disabled, but yet I understand that he refused any rise in benefits for the disabled.With all due respect, maybe he ought to try to be more "in Touch " with the poor and Disabled.

He made a very good and humble point (and one that also led me to the Catholic church): 'the best thinkers of the last 2000years have devoted themselves...to what has been revealed to the church. Who am I to compete with that?' Many of those who criticise the catholic faith and the extraordinary theology behind it, do so out of ignorance. They usually haven't read Thomas Aquinas, Augustine, Newman...etc.

True he is a gentleman, and I don't hate him, and I don't think he has many haters at all, but I just don't know how he can say he follows what the Catholic Church teaches and yet defend that philanderer Boris Johnson and his disgraceful behaviour when he was in office. Also there are lot's of Gentlemen of all ages in the Catholic Church, who are also intelligent and who are just as good as Jacob, and if they were in his position I'm sure they would do more to help the poor and disabled. What I do find very sad is that it seems to me that people are so taken in by him mainly because of his upper class accent, it just shows you how gullible people are.

@@e.w.1179 it just shows how judgemental people are and lawyers and KCs have condemned the report and found at least 15 flaws in the Privileges Committee Report, chaired by a woman guilty of bias before the report was even made. The same guidelines that applied to Starmer, should also have applied to Boris, and they were that social distancing wouldn’t be possible in all events, but the Privileges Committee decided to change them retroactively. No wonder lawyers called it a Kangaroo Court! Boris had a cake which he didn’t even eat. Starmer pre organised a beer, curry and quiz night in Durham and according to witnesses many were getting drunk. In the Catholic faith, you aren’t supposed to tell anyone if you’ve given charitably and giving alms is part of the faith. As a devout Catholic, JRM would not tell anyone if he had, so none of us know, but my guess is that he donates generously to charitable causes. He just doesn’t make a song and dance of it for publicity like some politicians would.

@dee2251 utter nonsense I'm a Catholic. There is no such law or sin about divulging, which charity you give a donation to ,and furthermore, he's not highly intelligent he has a history degree. I'll give you one of the many lies he promised the people of this country he stated that finally, after we leave the EU, the government can abolish VAT on our energy bills. VAT on our bills has nothing to do with the European Parliament. This government always had the sovereignty and right to abolish VAT on or energy bills, which after we left, we still pay VAT on or bills, so he lied. The privilege committee chairwoman did offer to resign, but oddly, it was Parliament and the tory Chief Whip who refused her resignation offer

Good to see someone supporting the Truth of the Holy Catholic religion. Real authenticity, is the supreme Spirit within us, that not only unites us through God, yet also projects hearts outwards, because of the true and inner concern for the people. This Truth comes from my experience when writing. Actually, I find the concern in the writing text, like a link and with God, even as God is above. Almost like a God super Love inner ingredient that in some way really is connected to God in Heaven above. Since He loves everyone, and has an Almighty plan, we must listen to Him. The money they could save in the political money trove too, could, certainly help starving, homeless families, agreed? God Bless, you, yours and all. Amen Glory to God in the Highest level of Love forever. ❤😁😘

JR Mogg gives an oblique answer to a straightforward question. He plays down the gravity of the woman arrested for silently praying outside an abortion clinic. . . says it is just ‘a part of the freedom of speech issue’. A ‘free vote ‘ , he refers to when asked the awkward question. He is on record in a previous interview saying he has no plans to change the abortion laws.
@johnnotrealname8168
@johnnotrealname8168 8 ай бұрын
He does not play it down, I am pretty sure he is for freedom of speech and as such supports the whole silent prayer thing, I could be wrong. As for abortion generally, his point is that there are not enough votes in Parliament or public opinion for such a change (He literally went up in Committee and defended the unborn.). However he does think changes for example to the lot of down-syndrome children can be changed.

Everyone pulls the ‘don’t judge’ card because it is written in the Bible (Matt 7). It is the immediate ‘defence scripture’ when a sudden contradiction is about to be revealed concerning a person’s actions. However, what is also written in the New Testament, from the mouth of Jesus, is the fact that the accummalation of welath and following Jesus is a definite contradiction! See the parable of the rich man (Matthew 19:21) and the famous, yet often coveniently glossed over, ‘camel through the eye of a needle’ teaching where people who have a lot of material wealth have hardly no chance of getting into heaven (Matt 19:23-24). Why do people want to fan their egos (having position, money, power and titles) when Jesus explicitly states that in order to follow him you must ‘forget yourself’ (Matt 16:24)? Why do people suddenly and ironically ‘forget’ these instructions? Why do people cherry pick bits of scripture to soften and obscure the realisation that what they are doing is contrary to what Jesus actaully asks them to do? It is clear, from the mouth of Jesus, you must give up your wealth and material trappings if you want to follow him and be a faithful Christian. If you don’t act on his teachings even though you portray yourself as a Christian to the rest of the world then are you really a follower of Christ or are you just pretending? Christianity is a difficult faith to follow. It is not supposed to be easy otherwise Jesus wouldn’t have asked his followers to ‘take up your cross and follow me’ (Matt 16:24-26). Followers of Christ need to ask themselves (everyday) if they are in fact the contradiction or are the words of Christ and the Bible contradictory and wrong? Are you prepared to say which? Would Jacob?
