Jonathan Miller was everything that was once great about BBC broadcasting. His death is a devastating loss to a culture which itself has Alzheimer's disease, which is why today's BBC, even in this obituary, has no real idea of what has been lost.

Well, Jonathan Miller didn't actually believe in the God concept (see Atheism-A Rough Guide to Disbelief ) But I'm sure his family would appreciate your sincerity & good intention in your comment Pete.

What a gratuitously rude obituary from the BBC. "Thin-skinned", "too clever by half", "a figure of fun", "an egotist", "devastatingly rude" and "pretentious".

I expected it. Take a wild guess how nasty the obits of Chomsky will be.

Shocking! This obit calls Miller a pretentious egotist, a devastatingly rude figure of fun, which is so far off the mark you'd be forgiven for thinking Donald Trump had died. I wondered how the BBC had the temerity to come out with this guff so Googled JM and the word "rude" which led to the obvious source of the perverse view of the man: a Daily Mail rant about JM being a socialist, disparaging towards UKIP, and railing against the Daily Mail's own theatre critic. Ahhh, so let us not measure the man by his achievements and his friends but ask instead what the cunts at the Mail think. Nice job, BBC. When Peter Cook died, his friend Stephen Fry felt the compulsion to correct, on air, the errors the media had made in their assessment of Cook in their obituaries. Here we are again. Seems people can't help but stick the boot in the moment a genius dies. When the people who put this vile obit together die, their obit should read "Plagued by envy to the extent that their judgement was faulty and their words worthless. Sadly not at all missed."'

Absolutely rubbish production of The Mikado - ruined it with his awful silly costumes, dancing and casting. He couldn’t use the original costumes and make up for whatever reason - he’s on film stating Gilbert and Sullivan were ‘racist’. How idiotic, referring to two talented Victorian men this way.
