A blue collar job - think mechanic- will often have dirty hands from his job and needs to clean them for that reason. A white collar worker cleans his hands to be polite before shaking the hands of others!

My father was an professional engineer who ran his own business troubleshooting problems for companies. He often had dirty hands when he was working, but was a quiet, responsible, very 'middle-class' gentleman, and I do mean gentleman in the old-fashioned view of the term. You could apply the same thing to farmers and landscape gardeners, structural engineers, botanists, geologists, etc etc. Dirt doesn't take much note of 'class'. Personally I don't really see how millions of people can be defined by three generalised terms.

I'm not sure why you keep saying Sir, it is giving him deference that he does not deserve. The definition of working class are employed in unskilled or semi-skilled manual or industrial work and middle class is professional and business people. For an educated man Starmer is neither sharp nor knowledgeable.

I don't get the difference between working and middle class. For example, a teacher is middle-class yet can only dream (in their wildest dream) what a plumber or mechanic or electrician earn as a "working class" person.

Sakir starmer LOL he thinks the working class are people who go out in the morning to work for money and come home in the evening, to home and family. His father was not working class, he was a business owner making him middle class. Starmer lived in Surrey(middle class area) having been born in London (same as me) and was lucky enough to be able to take the 11 plus and go to grammar school, then on to uni. Where I lived, BRENT , grammar schools were abolished (due to many immigrants not being able to get in to them) and uni was for those who's parents did not need their school leaving age (16) child's income which mine did. I'm the same age as him and dont relate to his class or education opportunities at all. He is lucky enough to have both parents still, both mine are dead through poor health.
