The true definition of a hero, what an incredible story and gift he gave the world.
@Sound_Spark2 жыл бұрын
This is the true definition of a hero. This man put his life in harms way to save 669 children and the best part is for 50 years his selfless act remained hidden, all until one tv show decided to bring the children and Sir Nicolas Winton together. To that tv show I say thank you for helping bring what this man did to light, and allowing those who's life's he saved to finally say "thank you" in person.
@chriss3030 Жыл бұрын
@Sound_spark, do you have any way to confirm whether this man actually risked his life while saving the kids? Cause at some point the Germans abandoned the camps as the Russians and Americans and British advanced. So, there wasn't anyone there to put any amount of resistance against seizing the camps and liberating the prisoners, because the prisoners themselves could have easily walked out the front gate, but fear mostly liked kept them frozen in their places. But i wonder how much truth there is to him actually risking his life to save some kids. Or maybe the one telling the story just embellished it so sounds more heroic, than if he just strolled into a camp with no guards to fight off.

Sir Nicholas Winton took a regret to his grave. The 9th train carrying a further 250 children was stopped at the last minute. No prizes for what happened to them little ones. I guess when Sir Nic walked through the gates where Saint Peter resides, i bet there were 1,338 parents waiting to thank him for giving their children a life. Thank you.
