Appreciate this being available for all to see. Great job everyone 😊

Beautiful hall with wonderful acoustics. On my first visit I was surprised by the applause between movements of the symphony. Even here in Prague it sometimes happens, that the audience applauds where it is not usual, but these are quite exceptional cases. When the situation repeated itself on my second visit, which took place less than a year later, I discovered by listening to perhaps hundreds of live recordings on YT, made in many concert halls in Germany, that applause between movements is not something, that is usual in Germany. Would anyone have an explanation as to why this particular thing happens in Hamburg?
@stanislawmroz76197 ай бұрын
may bee the audience is less critical ?
@fromprague60347 ай бұрын
@@stanislawmroz7619 If that's the case, I'll change my question a bit: why exactly only in Hamburg does the audience's lower criticality show itself by applauding even where it's not customary elsewhere?
@assreductionist85757 ай бұрын
Maybe Mozart 40 attracts less experienced audience members?
@JB-it7hz3 ай бұрын
I think the reason is that the Elbphilharmonie hall is a very popular place to visit in Hamburg, so there may be more tourists and people in the audience who are not as familiar with the 'unwritten rules' of classical concerts.

A lot of tempi change. I can't help thinking some Russian conductor trying to do that to mozart - comments would be negative. But here... the man can do whateven he wants :-). Cultural bias (not that I didn't enjoy the rendition).
@MatthiasGuentherDE7 ай бұрын
Who should care about the nationality of the conductor?? That's quite a strange ultra-old-fashioned thinking. Additionally, where do you think that Rattle deviates from the score?
@AndreyRubtsovRU7 ай бұрын
@@MatthiasGuentherDE well, people do care in real life, i met this attitude a lot. Regarding tempi - are you serious? You see a single ritenuto in manuscripts of these symphonies?
