Can someone please explain this to me? I see a lot of videos from people (In the USA) having sirens in their backyard. Prob mechanics or siren geeks. Are these people only allowed to test them on certain, special days? Or do they ask the local government/fire dep to test them? if it's the last option, how do locals know this?

In this case, the sound from the siren is hardly noticeable from far away. - Some people test their sirens concurrently with the local city/county system. - Some people have communicated with their local government to activate their sirens in case of weather emergencies.
