For those who didn’t get the joke, Stephen Foster was the composer of the song ‘Jeanie with the light brown hair.’

Story I heard was that once the Rocky & Bullwinkle writers ran out of fairy tales to adapt (or got bored) they made up their own, and that’s where things got silly
@MrTruckerf Жыл бұрын
I think this one would qualify.
@bloqk168 ай бұрын
I had heard something similar. In a TV show profile about the Rocky & Bullwinkle show, it was mentioned that the writers used to tweak the Fractured Fairy Tales stories with all sorts of inventive plot devices that deviated from the original tales, such as 'being cursed with a nose looking like a casaba melon!'

Gawd, I miss the days that went along with these cartoons… We saw these during the Rocky and Bullwinkle hour… Aesops Fables too… Then Tennessee Tuxedo (and Chumlee) and Commander McBragg… good times… black and white TV…

Man I love these cartoon tales... so much that I bought the series on dvd and digitized them into my classic & vintage cartoon media library! 😎👍

As did I 👍🏾.... unfortunately the DVD series didn't have the original Rocky Show intro music or Bullwinkle's jazzy end credits with the fireworks popping off ending 🤷🏾♂️

@@rizinggodfist3049 It looks like the original endings from 1959 to 1961 are not on the R&B and Friends collections... checked youtube (where I get all my media intros, endings, classic intermission, ans vintage movietone news clips) there are a few separate original intros & endings... including the ending where the illustrated lighting pops like fireworks.... Guess I have more conversion/Editing work ahead! 😁😎👍

@@1gramps4julian yeah I thought so friend 👍🏾... indeed that's where I got most of my information to was from KZbin and other KZbinrs that uploaded those classic intros/credits endings... thank God for them & their time machine capsules 👍🏾

Genie sounds like a husky Rocket J. Squirrel…Almost certainly voiced by June Foray, who did most if not all the female voices in the Rocky series. Tight budget. My aunt was friends with Foray in high school (Springfield MA). Foray graduated HS with a degree in elocution (probably first and only) and moved on from MA to CA and greatness.

Rocky and Bullwinkle was the best! Pull up on you tube : recording of voice overs for rocky and bullwinkle episode GOOF GAS ! It's the crew doing the voices of the characters un-edited in real time like a bloopers audio but it's a riot..they're cracking up at what the writers handed them ..howling !

If you're talking about the character himself, the original story explicitly takes place in China (though it's pretty clear the writer knew nothing about China other than that it was some faraway kingdom). If you mean where the story itself comes from - yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if it originated in Persia. I think a lot of old Persian tales found their way in to the 1001 Nights.
