I've never seen this method and I have been crocheting since the 1960s. Wonderful work. An answer to a need I've had for quite some time.

@@joannadickerson9189 It's not. Tunisian doesn't pull through all the loops at once, and it pulls up loops from the free working yarn through each stitch, not the working yarn that's already in the fabric. I don't know exactly what you'd call this. It's kind of a cross between crochet, Tunisian crochet, and weaving. Very interesting and unique technique!

I think this is what you do when you can't decide between macrame and crochet. Both can be decorative as well as life-saving skills. Crochet is ancient! Never gave it much thought till I saw a lady follow the history to prove her theory that there a sort of code hidden in the patterns. I think she's decoding the Voynik Manuscript now! Crazy! I will teach my nephews this strap right away! Or maybe send them here,😊❤❤❤❤

I thought immediately that was more for cording. A lot of entries talk about cord rather than yarn. I’d want to do it with something heavy whether it’s cord or yarn. Excellent skills in both crocheting and instructions. Your instincts are perfect.

I'm so glad this popped up. I have horses, and won't leave a halter on them since it can be dangerous. Been trying to figure out a way to make one from yarn so I can leave a halter on, but not have to worry about them. I'm going to use regular yarn since I don't care if it breaks. I was planning on going to a craft store tomorrow anyway, so I'm going to see what they have in the way of "hardware" I can use. If they don't have what I'm looking for, I'll look in Lowes.
