Every Antenna design has a weakest link in it somewhere & the Wind always finds it. That's a NICE Tower Base Install ! I had a 50ft Rohn tower in the 80s with the original Avanti Super Penetrator on top. What an amazing antenna that was. Thanks for sharing.

2 years ago I had exactly the same problem with my Sirio Tornado antenna, I was able to repair it by building the broken piece that is originally made of hardened plastic, with a new and oversized high-strength Nylon, now, I was very careful not to exceed the distance between the base that is connected to the mast and the radiant since it is a critical measure, now after two years of this repair, it has worked again at 100% and with a notable improvement in reception, as the nylon is the best insulator than plastic (at least I think so)

A lot of people dont care for the Solorcon A99 but i have had one up for 3 or 4 years. Its went through 4 or 5 ice storms and lots of wind.I actually just put up another A99 on a 50' tower. They are hard to beat.

I had one years ago. It's a very rugged antenna for sure. When I replaced the A-99 with the Sirio Tornado 27 my recieve and transmit were so much better. I really thought about going with the IMAX 2000, but decided on ths penetrator. We'll have to see how it holds up in the wind.

For wind they are the best. But honnestly the serio is the superior antenna.Ihad a 2000 before this one and wasn't satisfied, did not see improuvement over the A99 i had before.Sold the 2000 and got the serio.A serious upgrade even 10 feets lower!

QUESTION....... Sir Did you manage to repair your Tornado with epoxy resin & some metal or wood dowel? My Tornado snapped yesterday Friday 24th March 2023 at the plastic part. I was wondering if it is worth me repairing as it is the best antenna I ever used even beat my Vector 4000 & low noise on the Tornado too. Did you repair & if so was the repair a success, ANYBODY PLEASE?

I purchased a Penetrator SPT-500 and it's withstood 80 mph winds for over 2 years now. The Sirio works great, but is a very weak antenna. There wasn't any real good way to repair it.

@@vegasfordguy I have started my repair & inserted a copper dowel for strength. It is not conducting its just inside the plastic. Im ordering some plastic weld resin & will also cut 2 semicircle pieces of allot tube to clamp over the plastic with stainless steel hose clamps for extra strength. I do not want to change antenna this is the best on RX/TX & noise floor. There is no tap to ground in these antenna which makes them great for using lower or higher than 27 MHz. I MUST sucseed. The only other way would be to 3D print one & I know someone with a 3D printer. But will the plastic be as strong.

Mine broke after 1 year. I used plastic weld epoxy to put it back together. I plastic welded a fiberglass tree stake in the center hole. The bell end of 1 1/2in PVC worked perfect to put over outside of it, the bell to the bottom and 1 1/2in to the top cut the length to fit. Used a heat gun to make it fit snug. Used stainless steel screws all the way through. Painted black. Turned out better than new!

Get yourself a Sirio 827...very well made and about the best factory antenna ever made. Very heavy, but extremely strong

I thought about it, but just about everyone I know recommended the Hy-gain spt-500 so that's what I ordered. Hopefully it will last!

The exact same thing happened to my Sirio New Tornado 27 antenna. Faulty construction. It worked for 1 year and 3 months. The warranty was 1 year, so I could screw it up.

I purchased a Penetrator SPT-500 after my Sirio snapped and it's been through 80 mph wind gusts without an issue. I've had it up for a few years now without any problems.

All CB antennas are made without any excess capacity, they are made on the verge of breaking down. And they will!

Not true at all, this Sirio is an exception. Most will hold up and last for years if not for a lifetime.
