In the books Hermoine's cat Crookshanks plays a bigger role. Crookshanks actually encountered and befriended dog form of Sirius as Sirius walked the grounds and forbidden forest. And he was aware Sirius was after the rat. So Crookshanks had a seemingly abnormal obsession with catching Scabbers. He wanted to take him to Sirius. He was an extremely intelligent cat.

@DaKidsReact Crookshanks was also half kneazle. The kneazles are cat-like magical creatures, bigger in size than normal house cats, that could detect untrustworthy people. Crookshanks would hunt down Scabbers from the very beginning, way before getting to know Sirius and made several attempts against him,which was the reason why Hermione and Ron fought quite often in the books...

Some clarifications about this movie: 1) It is revealed in the books that the Patronus may be summoned not only with memories, but with genuine happy thoughts as well: for instance, Harry managed to summon it by thinking about Ron and Hermione or by imagining a teacher he despised being fired (no spoilers). And for his very first real Patronus during the studies with Lupin Harry used the memory of the day he had learned he was a wizard. 2) Boggarts may seem not too dangerous, but they are very hard to get rid of for adults. Kids are usually scared of monsters, insects and all that, so it's easy to transform those into something funny, but adults are afraid of things that are harder to laugh at, like losing loved ones or being a failure (by the way, Hermione saw Professor McGonagall telling her that she failed all the exams - can that be laughed at?). 3) Animagi cannot choose animals they turn into, for those are the animals that they resemble the most (spiritually). And the animal form almost always matches the Patronus form, but the latter may change in certain situations (very rare, but still)

Also there is a ritual to become an animagus and said ritual is all but taboo since it is such a lengthy process that has to be entirely be restarted if there is a failure at any point and if the failure happens at the very end you can potentially be permanently deformed, mutated, in animal form, or somewhere in-between with no known remedy and of course unable to make another attempt. All that said, third year students are taught about the process (but not the specifics) and may seek counseling if they wish to pursue becoming one. In theory, all animagi should be registered in the Animagus Registry at the Ministry of Magic since while you do not need a wand to perform this permanent magical ability it is still technically transfiguration and thus fall under magical law. (hence why they are able to force Peter out of his rat form with a spell, because you can counter the transformation) Additional fun fact that is never covered in the movies: there are natural born shapeshifters that have essentially the same ability as the animagus ritual conveys and they are called Metamorphmagus, though they can transform into a variety of things not just a single animal form and it is not considered "magic" so there is no registry for it and they are harder to track.

Fun fact, the motorcycle that Hagrid used in the first movie to transport baby Harry was Sirius’. He had lent it to Hagrid right before Sirius went after Peter to confront him, and was wrongfully accused of not only killing Peter but a handful of Muggles. The ministry of magic didn’t give Sirius any hearing o prove he was innocent. They just threw him in Azkaban without a trial. That’s why they were in such a rush to have the Dementors suck out Sirius’ soul while he was in the dungeon at Hogwarts.

one intereting thing that I can't remember if the movies mention, but the reason sirius black got past the dementers so many times was because he took the form of a dog, the simple emotions confused their ability to find him and from being so skinny he was able to squeeze through the bars as the dog. Wasn't till he realized where pedigrew was that he didn't try to escape.

When harry potter's parents went into hiding dumbledore cast a protection charm to hide them from voldemort. The charm required there to be a trusted person that knew the password to find them. Harry's parents chose Sirius Black to be this person. At the last moment it was changed from Siruis to Peter to throw voldemort off. No one knew this except siruis, peter and harrys parents. When harrys parents died, Sirius knew that Peter had betrayed them. He was the only one who knew. Everyone else thought Siruis betrayed them. Even Lupin and Dumbledore because they didnt know they switched. Siruis confronted Peter after their death and peter blew up a street killing many people. Then he cut off his finger to make it look like he blew up too and transformed into a rat and ran away. Making it look like Sirius was the only one standing at the crime scene. Peter went into hiding as a rat. He framed Sirius for the murder of those people, his own murder and of the death of the Potters. Thats why Lupin looked so shocked when Harry told him he saw pettigrew. Lupin, harry's dad James, Sirius and Peter were all friends at school. Lupin was a werewolf, and the others learned to turn into animagus's so they could be around Lupin when he transformed. Apparently a werewolf was only a danger to humans. The 4 of them created the map. Thats how Lupin knew what it was. Moony (Lupin), Wormtail (Peter), Padfoot (Sirius), Prongs (James). Harrys dad could transform into a Stag.

I think in the book they explained how James, Sirius and Peter all learned how to become animagus's so Remus wouldn't be alone in being a warewolf. And that explains their nicknames. Jame's animagus form was a Stag (Prongs, as in his antlers). Peter was a Rat obviously (Wormtail). And Sirius being the Dog (Padfoot). Super cool details

This and the 5th movie run neck and neck for my favorite movie. Draco doing the 2 things Hagrid said *not* to do around a hippogriff abd then whines like a baby over a wound that Madam Pomfrey can heal in less than a minute. She regrew all of the bones in Harry's arm last year and you didn't see hime carrying on like a baby. If the movies had made Snape as nasty and mean as he was in the books you'd know why he's Neville's greatest fear.

Harry was able to conjure up the patronus when they went back in time by using the memory of who he thought was his father doing it. Once he realizes that it was him in that moment who had ACTUALLY done it, it gave him the good memory and the confidence he needed to do it because his past self had technically already done it 😵😵 lol

Hagrid just loves animals and magical creatures, and see them as not harmful at all. Even if its a spider like Aragog, Norbert the dragon, or Buckbeak, a big ass half hawk half horse with talons, because he understands them or befriend them. For example, its in a Hippogrifs nature to show respect to them by bowing, if u want to get close to them, and then they have to bow back for u to get the pass.. But once u get the pass, u are good, which is why Hagrid could just put Harry on Buckbeaks back and smack Buckbeaks behind and making Buckbeak take off with Harry, rather than ripping Hagrid to shreds, or Harry for that matter. And why Malfoy got cocky and got scratched, before Hagrid intervened. He didnt believe it, got arrogant, cocky and referred to Buckbeak as a chicken. But he got "some" in return. A hippogrif is considered a pretty dangerous magical beast, who attacked a pupil who happened to be Malfoy, which is why Malfoys dad blew it way out of proportion, who btw is in the school council and has a lot of influence and got the execute order of Buckbeak through.

Brandy is made from distilled/burnt wine, which is commonly grape-based (although it can be made from other fruits), so technically Aunt Marge is possibly poisoning her own dog. Grapes are poisonous for dogs. Now to answer some questions that the movie doesn't answer directly. James, Remus, Sirius, and Peter were friends in Hogwarts and all knew Remus was a werewolf. The other became Animagus to transform into animals and keep him safe when it was his time of the month. James was a stag, Sirius the dog, and Peter the rat. Their nicknames were Moony (Remus under the full moon), Wormtail (Peter's wormy rat tails), Padfoot (Sisruis's soft dog feet), and Prongs (James's antlers). They created the Marauders Map. Harry's Patronus was in the shape of a Stag, like his dad.

love your reactions and attention to detail so much, also never heard anyone suspecting Hermione so that was very refreshing. Not sure if anyone‘s mentioned it (the movies sadly hasn’t either) yet but the Map belonged to the Marauders ( hence Marauders map) that were essentially Remus Lupin (Moony), Sirius Black (Padfoot), James Potter (Prongs) and Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail) they were up to a lot of trouble during their time in hogwarts and were very mischievous and pranksters. Lupin was bitten by a werewolf at a very young age (4 I belive) so technically he wouldn‘t have been allowed to attend hogwarts but Dumbledore managed to still integrate him and planted the whomping willow on top of the shrieking shack the place Lupin would go to to transform and where the shack got it‘s name (the tranformation is a very painful progress so every month screams would be heard from it) the whompng willow served to protect the entrance of the shack curiously it only acts hostile towards human figures or well wizards. The other three of the Marauders found out about Lupins secret and the whomping willow being less hostile towards animal figures and decided to go through the tedious and hard process to become animagi (it‘s seriously very tough of a procedure starting with having to keep a Mandrake leaf in your mouth for a whole month if you swallow it or take it out you have to start again and only then you can proceed to the next steps) because they also find out that animals can stay with werewolves without being shredded to pieces unlike human figures. So every month they would join Lupin at the shrieking shack to help him through his transformations. They still have more history that I personally always found very intriguing and am still sad the movie never really touched it (there will be more mentions in other movies tho) what always shocked me was also how young they all were. I‘m 20 now and as a kid, Lily and James dying at 21 felt very far away to me but now almost being their age It truly shocks me Also the ending was quite sweet seeing as Sirius bought baby Harry his very first broom when he became his godfather and it felt like a nice parallel also not mentioned in the movie sadly

As an avid Harry Potter fan, I always love seeing people react to watching HP for the first time & hear people’s theories & external processes as to what they think is going on & who’s the bad guy. Y’all were the first ones I’ve heard so far that thought Hermione was up to something sus against Harry...super interesting! So fun to hear your thoughts & see your genuine reactions! So excited to keep watching your reactions to the other movies in the series cuz y’all it gets wild asf & so tragic in the most unexpected ways seriously some of the best storytelling of all time with the plot twists in this series (in my opinion). Also one thing that I always admire about the Harry Potter series is the depth within the symbolism. For example this one is dementors represent depression & the cure is happy memories or pulling the light that is within everyone & positive thoughts & being brave & strong enough to bring out the hope & light in the moments of despair to combat it & the boggart which represents fear & the best way to defeat fear is through laughter or finding a lighter tone to defeat our worst fears, etc. & also just how the media/government paint pictures of people we don’t even know & it could be a completely false narrative until you get to truly know someone versus making judgements based on hearsay & mass hysteria & just in general people are not as they seem…such brilliant literary symbolism in J.K.’s writing even though it’s a fantasy series. Anyways just some food for thought!

In the book, there is a whole side-plot all about the Firebolt. At the beginning, Harry sees it in a store when he's living at Diagon Alley and becomes obsessed with it, going every day to just look at it and is constantly tempted to buy it but can't bring himself to do it because he has the Nimbus 2000 and Firebolts are very expensive (Draco makes a joke about how the Weasleys could sell off everything they own and only afford half the handle). Fast forward to later after the Nimbus gets destroyed, Harry gets a Firebolt for Christmas but nobody knows who it's from. Harry and Ron are over the moon but Hermione suspects that it's been cursed and sent by Sirius so she reports it to McGonagall who has the broom confiscated until they're able to guarantee that it's not been tampered with. Harry then is able to use the Firebolt to win Gryffindor its first Quidditch Cup in several years. In the end, Sirius confirms in a letter that he did send Harry the broom (and he had actually shown up at the first game so Harry wasn't hallucinating when he saw "the Grim").

Harry must live with the Dursleys because his mother, before she died, cast a protective spell sacrificing herself for her son's safety, preventing Voldemort from harming him until he turns 17 (explaining why Professor Quirrell burned his hand when touching Harry in the first movie). Additionally, because Petunia shares the same blood as Lily, it strengthens the protective enchantment, necessitating Harry's continued residence with the Dursleys until he reaches the age of 17.

The enchantment was known only to their trusted friends, Sirius and Pettigrew. Pettigrew betrayed them by revealing their secret to Voldemort, leading to the death of Harry's parents. However, due to Lily's enchantment protecting Harry, the Avada Kedavra spell couldn't kill him but instead caused Voldemort to lose his body and later rejuvenate in the fourth movie. This also explains why, during the fourth movie, Harry could withstand the killing curse of Avada Kedavra with a weaker spell like "Expelliarmus."

I LOVE this movie. It's one of my favorites in the Harry-otter series. The next movie the Goblet of Fire is even more crazy and intense. This is the second video I've watch from y'all's channel. The first being the reaction to interstellar, which is definitely one of the best movies ever made. I love how in depth you guys get into dissecting the movie. A lot of KZbin reactors don't pay enough attention and I love how you guys do. Y'all should check out the movie the Society of the snow. It's a Netflix film about this group of guys who crash land in the Andes mountains in the winter time and how they survive. It's based on a true story, which is even more insane once you actually watch the movie and get to see their journey towards survival. it's a beautifully made movie visually and sonically. It is a foreign film in Spanish, so just keep that in mind, you'll have to read subtitles. It's a beautifully heartbreaking story and I think you guys would truly enjoy it.

Man, where to start? There are a few key points from the books that enhance this movie: 1) When Lupin was a student at hogwarts during full-moon nights, the school helped him deal with his condition by giving him a potion that would grant him self-control to a limited degree. On these nights, Lupin would deactivate the womping willow (he was taught to do this), and enter the shrieking shack(where the movie's big reveal took place) where he would scream and 'shriek' while suffering through his painful transformation throughout the night. The shack got its name from Lupin himself. 2) Lupin's best friends James, Sirius, and Peter learned about Lupin's condition, and supported him by becoming Animagus in secret. James was able to transform into a stag, Sirius a giant black dog, and Peter a rat. Lupin, Peter, Sirius, and James spent almost all their time together. Eventually, Lupin taught them all how to deactivate the womping willow and they would sometimes sneak Lupin out of the shack (James and Sirius in their animagus forms could semi-control Lupin's werewolf as a safe measure). They created the Maurauder's Map, taking on the nicknames of Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs. This is why Sirius dragged Ron and 'scabbers' into the shrieking shack, knowing full-well the room was there, and why Lupin was able to follow them there after seeing them on the Maurauder's map. 4) Snape found out about Lupin's condition early on when he was a student at hogwarts, and it almost cost him his life. Sirius Black told Severus Snape the correct way to get past the tree so he would end up seeing Remus Lupin in werewolf form. I'm not sure if this was a prank gone wrong, or if Sirius was just being cruel. When James found out what Sirius had done, he went after Snape and managed to save his life. This is why Snape was also able to get past the womping willow and into the shrieking shack during the big reveal. 3) When Sirius transformed into his Animagus form, his mind becomes more instinctual, and his human emotions take a backseat. The dementors had a tough time detecting Srius Black because of this. Sirius eventually became so adept at hiding his presence in his dog form that he was able to escape Azkaban.
